Discussion 14 - 12/8/08

Hello Internets! Thanks for logging in!

I want to do kitchen technology one more time.

Go look at something you didn't look at last week. There are many pages of gadgetry. Go ahead, I'll wait . . .

http://www.cnet.com/kitchen-gadgets/

Give me an opinion. A REAL opinion, not just a "yeah it's all cool" opinion. Pick something to talk to me about. If you can't give me some real discussion, I can't give you a real 100!

Talk to me . . .

McCorvey,T-1 said...

Gilbreath,J-1 said...

The Fridge Fizz dispenser looks like it'd help great with parties.

And then you have the ABC cookie cutters...Suddenly, I feel like I should try to make one of those. Muwahahaha!!!!

Other than that, sadly, I don't see any real point in any of the other things I saw.

Ashley Manis said...

Well, last week I just listed what I liked, and I think that worked pretty well. So I'm doing it again.

Digital recipe reader
The holiday cookie cutters (haha)
S'MORES MAKER!! FA SHO!!!
The peep maker... who wants to wait tell Easter?
Cooking robots
Blue elephants
Tuberware that stacks inside its slef.. the works
Starwars toast.. LUKE I AM YOUR FATHER
Starwars anything. I want a R2D2 soy sauce thing...RAD.
To-Do tattoo

CHEESE BURGER IN A CAN!!!!!
That is SO righteous!! Like really. I just bust up in my pantry, because my mom won't take me to Mc Donalds, and I open up this can and theres a CHEESE BURGER! OMG... Thank you baby Jesus.

reed, k - 2 said...

In my opinion the digital recipe reader would be good to have instead of having to turn pages in a cook book and I think it would be kind of fun to use in the kichen like making you want to learn how to cook or something.

Campbell,A-4 said...

I really really like the Soda Fridge dispenser thing. I would use that every time I could lol. Also the Metal Spork thing is kinda uhm..retarted and the price of the thing is crazy $50 bucks for a friggen SPORK?! You can get them for free and KFC or something

borerw-4 said...

the digital recipe reader is really cool. my mom used to be a real chef and she would love that she can find all her recipes in one place.

ferrell, a-4 said...

mmm so this time i'm gonna point out what i think is pointless.. the measuring cups that pour, i usually don't mix things in my measuring cups, caz their made for measuring.. now if it was a flexible mixing bowl that would be different.. and the better finger for the batter is also stupid.. a spatula works just as good.. and also the storage containers, they have had those for a long time now, so their a little late..

one thing i do like is the bread slicer, i guess i wouldn't really know until i use it but it always seems hard to cut bread smoothly, but this seems like it would work better so you dont smush it in the process..

Auxier, Emily - 4 said...

Ok The showcase for wine thing is really stupid - first off its really ugly and takes up way to much space - 2nd if you have little brothers or sisters, little cousins, or kids, then it is just an accedent waiting to happen. I think its stupid.

Brice, R-4 said...

The Smore contraption is pretty cool. I love smores but i always mess up on making them, they always seem to want to do some gansta lean off eachother.

I also enjoy this breakfast wallet thing it seems simple but really useful for people that are on the go.

Calderon,A-1 said...

Digital recipe reader for connected chefs
that is a great idea, because my grandmother uses books that contains recipes. now i will buy one of that things and say GRANDMA HERE IS MY RECEIPT BOOK. and is really portable is like carring an ipod and you can store alot of recipes in that thing. is so cool specially for my grandma hahahahaha.

murillo, j - 1 said...

The discussion is about a construction of wood with some holes drilled into the base it has no plugs no heating elements nothing to turn on. The primula flowering tea set comes with a 40 ounce clear glass tea pot and a canister of flowering teas. Choose a flower and drop it into the pot. Each tea flower can be reused two or three times within a day or so, and you can buy more flowers once you go through the entire starter canister.

I know, right?!? said...

I personally believe that the tea pot thingamajig looks pretty, as well as could help at this particular moment....*cough*

Dietrich,R-3 said...

The cookie press thing is awsome... because see my mom has one and she always makes 15billion vannilla and chocolate cookies and they are delicious!

Tri-Edge said...

ok 1st off I would like to apologize for last week's comment.
I promise it won't happen again.

2nd off I would love to have that flexible measuring cup. It would be so much easier to keep the batter from pouring everywhere.

Ashley Manis said...

Also, the potatoe peelers would seriously help.
I had to peel those terrible things yesterday by hand and I cut myself multiple times. No. I'm not emo.

Jones-C-1 said...

I think that the bendy measuring cup is a really usefull and awesome invention. I mean if you have ever baked anything or even measured anything, you might know that its not very easy to do with a big glass cup.

Thompson,O-1 said...

THe only thing i saw that i might buy is the flexible measureing cup cuz i always spill the suff in it every where.

Liles, T-1 said...

The "Refrigarator save dispenser"!!! Ive spent the entirety of my life searching for a way to keep my 2 liters fresher for longer, and thank God ive found it. This truely is a good idea, cuz i go to family "get-togethers" and parties a lot where their are to many 2 liter drinks and everyone takes home 2 or 3, thats where this device comes in handy to deep those drinks fresh for longer.

mcgown,a-1 said...

Read this...Here's one for the wedding registry: a gold-and-diamond-studded pot that carries a price tag just north of $200,000. The 11-inch saucepan from cookware manufacturer Fissler features almost 2.2 pounds of solid gold in its lid and side handles and logo. But what's gold without diamonds? The saucepan features 200 of them, in various sizes. It also comes packaged in a jewelry box made of root wood and accompanied by the appropriate quality certificate....then go to page 57 on the blog. This is exactly what I am talking about. Why in the world do we need 200000 dollar cook ware. I mean even if I had that much to blow on a pot, I would hope if I bought one some one would immedatly hit me over the head with it!

Gilbreath,J-1 said...

Now that there's some new stuff, I think the Primula flowering tea set looks like it'd be extremely cool. I've, seriously, always wanted to watch tea being made by itself.

Pretzel Rod Display Stand...A very long name for a very useless object. I seriously can't think of any real use for such an invention. This is just weird...

chanelectronic said...

The flowering tea pot caught me off gaurd solely because something like it was used in the 2006 production of Marie Atoinette, when she invited her brother over for tea. Specifically she used a Jasmine flower - but I thought that was cool - that would be something I would especially give to older ladies in my family - and stupid gentlemen just so they have something to watch other than football...

Broadway,M-1 said...

I think the Refrigerator Fizz Saver Dispenser and PizzaDome are petty I want one. But every thing else is corny. But the pizzadome get 1st place from me .

mcgown,a-1 said...

...Im still not done...
and besides that if I if did but that pot, the way the housing market is I would probably have to sleep in it and make it my home!! For goodness sake you can buy a nice home for that much!!!

...where is my prayer...
im having a moment..
just give me and hour.

rodriguez,stephen-1 said...

the No soggy cereal bowl is what i'd get. it's on page 57 and it's incredable!
my mom hated when i threw out my soggy cereal and colored milk. She said it was "wasting food" and she would wait around till i drink/slurped it dry.Now with the inner secret self under all the hard cerceal, i can hide it then throw it away. So thank you "gray matter" for designing it.

villanueva, manuel, N. 1 said...

I really just like the Refrigerator Fizz Saver Dispenser, it would be cool to have

mayfield,s-1 said...

The PizzaDome and the Upside Down Soda thing are something that would be useful to me. I like all of them, but these are the main ones.

brittain,w-2 said...

the Tea For You thing was pretty cool, because it comes with a flower and while u pour the water into the pot u can notice the changes in how the flower makes the tea, and the tea leaves can be used 2-3 times a day.

packard,a-2 said...

ok i like the alphabet cake pan because you can have a personalized cake without worrying about having to write it with the messy cake decorating icing and have it look like a kindergarten wrote it. i also like the batter finger because you dont have to use your own and have batter from here to china up your arm!! and it works alot better to get the batter out than a spoon does!! and i also like the refrigerator fizz saver dispenser because it saves you money and it's practical to have at home because you dont want spills in your frig and you want to keep it cold, so this is the great solution to your delema.

Johnson,O-2 said...

I think the Refrigerator Fizz Saver Dispenser is a good idea cuz its kinda cool the way you can just pull the tab and you get the drink without have to help the little kids that can't lift the soda bottle without spilling it everywhere.

Ok this might seem dumb but i don't understand how the "Breaking the chains that bind" appliance. I just don't see how it can do this.
oh and the 1950s-style refrigerated vending machine from Nostalgia Electric want it!

edlin said...

I think that the refrigirator vending machine is really cool. If I could I would have one in my kitchen.

anderson,p-3 said...

my favorite was the one that keeps your soda from gettiing flat because i hate flat soda. it also made it easier and faster to get your soda. instead of pouring you could jus press a button and fill up your class. and the digital recipt thing would be good for someone who always cooks alot. it would help them keep up with their recipts better than carrying around a big book.

robles,l-3 said...

its cool that you can Choose a flower and drop it into the pot. and the flower is the actual tea. it sounds that this could be a good gift to give my mom fot christmas. so she could give me flower tea. this coul realy make a house look fancy.

otis,j-3 said...

Most of these appliances, although not necessities, are a great holiday gift option. Some of my favorites include the flexible measuring cup and soda fizz dispenser. When I have a bottle of soda in my fridge with no fizz, it tends to stay there until Monday, which is trash pickup day. It would be perfect for even distribution of carbonation and maybe even good for a small bar in my room.

cruz,raymond,a-class3 said...

I really like the refrigerator fizz dispenser, it makes me want to have a party if i had one of those. i also think that the pizza dome is the ultimate breakfast, lunch and dinner maker for college, i think im ganna get both of these 2 ideas be4 i go to college

Gonzalez, C-1 said...

Uhh kay. Some of those things seemed kinda useless. Well technically just one, that pretzel one. Whats the point of that. I mean really. Everything else seemed pretty cool like that tea thing, that blossoms while you put the tea in the jug. Thats pretty cool. The batter finger seems useless and the latex pad thingy somewhat too. The digital recipe thing was cool too.

och,s-4 said...

Most of these are pretty cool. However, the first thing - the pretzel holder unit - seems quite dumb. I would never use something like that and it seems pretty stupid to buy something that allows me to make 8 pretzels stand up. Whatever, though. If some people feel they need that then I guess someone will make some money.

allensworth, d4 said...

i think the egg set on page 59 is a little too obsessive....eggs are good and all but to make everything in his design be used for eggs AND look like an egg, its a little over the top

Abdul-786 said...

i liked the flexible measuring cup the most and the soda pouring thing and all the other stuff was pretty cool tooooooooooooooooo.

wallace,c-6 said...

im not the biggest coffee fan, but if i was i would be all for the grinder thing. thats about as fresh as you can get it, just looks pretty cool to me i guess.

Byrd,N-6 said...

I Think the pretzel rod display stand is the best idea ive ever heard.I cant tell you how many times ive spent hours designing my pretzel, put them on a plate or dissh of some sort and they would end up rolling off. Now that is a thing of the past thanks to pretzel rod holder. This may be the greatest invention of all time!

Cuarenta,A-6 said...

the "Flex-It Measuring Cups" are exactly what i need in the kitchen!
i love to bake but its always a problem for me NOT to make a mess no matter how hard i try my kitchen ends up a mess. and it would also be a plus to not have to wash so many dishes after baking...

Sauceda, Maria=]- 6 said...

The flexible measuring cup is perfect for me. It really bothers me that when i make cup cakes they end up all diffenrent sizes!!.. The soda dispenser is pretty cool too. I just think its just neat to press the button or handle and watch the soda pour..=]

Bixler,T-6 said...

I think the flexible measureing cup is a great thing to have in the kitchen. I know because I hate making a mess with the regular ones. I like all the devices but not as much as I like the measuring cup. I dont really like the pretzel holder.

Maness, J-6 said...

i can't believe that they just came out with a flexible measuring cup. not exactly complicated. its interesting to see the technology that people create in order to make our daily tasks easy, even when it comes to just cooking. although some of these are just ridiculous, such as the pretzel stick holder. that really doesnt serve a purpose worthy of paying for.

lee, s - 7 said...

That flower in cup tea. I don't know what taste that flower tea. Everything want drink flower tea and everyone say, "Tea for you." For everything, people like flower tea.

arnold,t.7 said...

ohh my i like the tea for you and the refrigerator fizz saver dispenser becauses when i was litte my mother bought me a tea set and i didnt like it so i throw it away but i like the one now cause you can put flowers in the tea set. and the soda fizz i like that too cause you can keep it in the refigerator and save it to drink.

Lopez, M-1~☺ said...

I just adore the Endo Magnets!!!
They're so helpful once you run outta space in a certain place or room in my case. Also the strawberry shaped tea infusers too. They're so cute!!

Copeland, Juston7 said...

in my opinion is that the smores maker helps in the sense of mess and you dont have to worry about little kids getting burnt so to me it is very efficient and ergonomic holds marshmallow in place thats cool

Meredith,B-6 said...

i think all this stuff is pretty neat alittle crazy but cool buit my favorite thing is the waffle iron

Hollingsworth,C-1 said...

The soup-bowl-and-cracker-holder is really nifty! I'm so accident pron that if i put a nice bowl of hot soup on a plate with crackers on the side...the HOT bowl would probably side off and BURN me. The only other option is to place the crakers on top of the soup and then they get soggy...yuck. This is the perfect solution for accident prone people like meh.

martines,j-1 said...

this stuff is preaty cool but i still think that the pizza dome is to small,i like the pretzel display rack its kinda pointless but cool and the actifry seems cool to because i hate all that fat on food

Baker,M-1 said...

Okay in my same format:

First-I love the smell and taste of fresh baked bread ^_^ So I would buy that

Second- The waffle iron and pretzel stand are weird -_-;

Third- Give me that coffe grinder *heart*

Fourth- That soda dispenser thing is just americans being lazy. Just get some dry ice and it stays fizzy.

Fifth- NO MORE KITCHEN PROJECTS Thank You ^_^

Hernandez, Ruben 3rd said...

i think this technology is awesome. now people wont have accidents during cooking

Patton,A-1 said...

the ice bucket wit the ipod in it is really cool.i would love to have an ice box that i could put my ipod in .now i could listen to music and drink water at the same time.it is a really great idea

taylor, Q - 6 said...

i think the recipe holder is a really neat idea.i think it would come in handy for my granny. she wouldnt have to search around for pieces of papers, she woul just have to learn how to use it, that might be the difficult part.

Darrius . . . don't ya just hate it when somebody beats you to something. Ya know, that's just like Ray Cole too. Get in there right under the wire like that!

Brice . . . gangsta lean smores? Really?!? Lordy!

Ashton . . . $200,000 for like a spaghetti pot?!? Oh I'm not thinkin' so. Yall ever notice when some people get famous and rich they lose their minds? That's what it would take for me to buy a $200,000 spaghetti pot.

Stephen . . . I hate soggy cereal too. Ugh.

Nathan . . . I'm right there with ya buddy. I can't tell you how many times I've thought "if only they would invent something to keep my pretzel sticks from rolling." Now our lives are complete.

Ummmm Andrew . . . can't you listen to your IPOD and drink water now? LOL

Trikosko, M-1 said...

We have one of those plastic pot holders at home, but it donesn't have that plastic grip on it. One of the coolest ideas on there I though was the soda dispenser, they way it dispenses soda is cool and it keeps it nice and fizzy!

Abdul-786 said...

i like that watch it was pretty cool and it looked good too.
