Blog 10 - November 11, 2013

Hola Homies!

Let's jump off into a new topic for a few weeks. Here it is . . . Ready? . . . Wait for it . . .

CELL PHONES!

Hey? Do you remember what it was like NOT to have a cell phone? Yeah. Me either. Seems like I've had one glued to my hand forever. And I'm pretty sure you guys came out of your mommies with one in your hands. It probably looked a little something like this:

For this week please check out the following sites. They all include links to reviews for new cell technology. Please note, on the second one you'll have to click the "View All Photos in Gallery" link to see all the phones.

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2376171,00.asp
CLICK THE VIEW ALL PHOTOS IN GALLERY LINK

http://www.mobileburn.com/upcoming_phones.jsp

For credit this week  you will need to 1)pick one of the phones highlighted on these three links and tell us which phone. 2) Pick a feature on that phone and 3) Tell us why you think that feature is cool OR how you'd use the feature personally.

1) Pick the phone, tell us which one.
2) Pick a feature on that phone, tell us which one.
3) Tell us why you think it's cool OR how you personally would use that feature.

As always, if you can't meet the directives I can't possibly be bothered to write down a 100 in my gradebook.

Talk to me . . .

MY website was the "5 Upcoming Android Phones" http://www.geek.com/android/5-android-smartphones-worth-waiting-for-1534820/
The Oppo N1 looked like a promising phone, with the camera that rotates a 180 degrees to the front. Not only can you take pictures from the back with the 13MP camera, but you can take selfies with it also. It's a Chinese made phone, which, isn't surprising it's coming to America. I love the cool features this phone has, but I probably wouldn't purchase it because I love Apple iPhones too much. It's still a very decent, top of the line phone.

I chose the Sony Xperia ZL's IR Blaster, which lets you control home entertainment devices. For me, this would be an efficient feature because the phone could double as a TV and Blu-Ray remote.

I would choose the Yotaphone because You can 'throw' images onto the back screen to turn it into a custom case. Thats a pretty cool option, having the ability to constantly change your case.

I chose the Samsung Galaxy S4 because it is just like my Galaxy S3, if not better with better picture resolution and quailty. It has a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter that I absolutely admire. I personally believe that the Galaxy phones produce the best picture qualities compare to other smart phones this year.

I would buy the LG Optimus Pro that lets you use three apps at once on the same screen. I think it's awesome because you don't have to get out of an app to go to another one. Also since I really don't know about phones all of the new features I read just seem so cool!

I choose the htc one from "The Best Upcoming Cell Phones" article. The HTC One is nice to me because its made of aluminum and the low light camera which makes it easier to snap in unlighted areas. Don't get me wrong I still loves IPhones but that is one of best androids to me.

I chose the LG G Flex, which is a phone that actually curves. I've never seen anything like that before...but it looks cool. It's supposed to have more sound when you're on the phone because it fits the contours of a person's face. I would definitely like that for when I need to talk on the phone in a crowded place.

THe LG Flex is supposed to be able to be flexible, this seems sketchy...ALthough it seems weird, i would use this to be able to put my phone is my pocket, and not have it dug into my thigh when i sit, or worry about it cracking when in my back pocket!

The iPhone 5s, because instead of typeing in your passcode you can just put your fingerprint on the home button and it unlocks, it makes getting into your phone so much easier for you, and impossible for a stanger.

I like the OPPO N1 and how it's camera feature is set.The camera is one of the first on a smart phone that has a 360 degree view vertically, they proclaim this will help people take higher end selfies and help take better pictures for apps(instagram, snapchat, ect...). With the world being connected better through verbal conversation this phone highlights the rise of connection through imagery.(Kade 2nd Period)

I would chose the samsung Galaxy s4.Because they are so smooth on the case. I mainly like this because I don't like trying to touch those hard cases where when you first touch it doesnt feel that you touched it so you bascially have to hit it hard. which I do not like that at all. why I think this is cool is because my screen will never crack or get dirty because its just a light touch.-Clayton HIll 2nd period

I picked the Oppo N1 because instead of having a good camera onthe back and a crappy one on the front, it has one good camera that rotates to the front or back. I would use this feature to take high quality selfies. Judge me if you must.

The phone I chose is the HTC One Max. It is supposed to have an incredible processor, Snapdragon 800(2.3 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of storage), that makes it run as smoothly, or even better than, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. I think that this phone is great because I loved the HTC One and now that it has been improved so much, I would definetly buy this phone because of all its unique features.

The website link wouldn't load for me but it was on pcmag.com

The phone i picked waas the Samsung Galaxy S4. The cool features on this was that it said that both cameras could work at he same time, and it could put one in like the corner so you could see both with decent 1080 megapixel camera techs. It sounds great, but what about the price, the world may never know just like how many licks it takes to get to the center of a totsie pop.

I choose the Nexus 5 Because #Androidmasterrace. A cool feature on it would have to be the Gorilla GLass 3 Coated Screen. I could chuck bricks at the thing and It would be fine. But Although it's already out, I'm in LOVE with the KitKat U.I, and It's got some pretty beast Specs. The Snapdragon 800 Has 4 Cores as opposed to the more common Dual core *cough *cough iPhone *cough*
and Each core clocks in at about 2.3Mhz. It also has a Soft touch backing, 1080P Display, and Nothing beast stock Android, Period.

The Oppo N1 looks like a pretty cool awesome phone. The amazing feature that the this phone has is that it there's a back touchpad for scrolling withouth touching the screeen. To me, I think its cool because there will be an option to flash a stable build of cyonagen when you first boot it up.

I chose the Nexus 5 because its a pretty big and thin phone. The feature i like about this phone is that it has storage options that include 16GB or 32GB internal memory which is good because i download too many Apps and takes up many of the memory space. It also has a 8-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization, LED flash, and a 1.3-megapixel front camera that makes a picture look great.

The Oppo N1 is pretty cool because it's waterproof. I personally have dropped my phone in water and became extremely emotionally distressed, so this is a nice reassuring feature. Plus the rotating camera is pretty cool so you can creep on people without being as obvious. Very helpful if you ask me!

It seems that time of the week has rolled around for the release of another smart phone, this time the Nexus 7 by google.
This phone comes equiped with a revolutionary new technology: the ability to instantly send short messages in the form of pros to a friend, in this place of an ordinary phone call. They are calling this incredible tech "texting." It's been rumored that this "texting" will almost totally replace phone calls.
How would I use such advanced technology? To tell the truth, it is something I've awaited for a long time. No longer must the human race be burdened with actually talking to another, using their speech skills to maintain an interesting conversation, refine their grammar, and avoid awkwardly long pauses. With this tech, I can wait as long as I like before replying, and when I feel a meaningful response is in order, I no longer need to reply with anything more advanced that 'lol.'
We truly are living in an age of heightened communication.

tl;dr: How about that technology, huh?
