Blog 19 1/24/11

Hola Peeps!

So last week was CES in Las Vegas. Never heard of it? Let me break it on down for ya.

CES stands for Consumer Electronics Show. It's HUGE!!!! GINORMOUS!!!! It's where (almost) every technology company in the world debuts their coming electronic attractions. Think of all the new technology of the last ten years . . . iPhones and other smartphones, tablet computers, wireless innovations, bluetooth gadgetry . . . ALL of that and so much more was introduced at CES.

In short, it's THE place to be if you're a nerd. (And no, before you ask, I've never gone. Maybe one day).

So here's a look at a few statistics from this year's show:

140,000 people attended

30,000 of those people came from another country

2,700 technology companies displayed their wares

158,000 tweets originated from their last week

So you should be starting to see what a BDD it is.

Here is a look at some of the new technology that previewed last week. Pick any one new gadget, tell me which website it came from, tell me how it will change our lives.

Follow my directions completely if you would like a grade.

Talk to me.

It's the computer that has the full Windows 7 on it. It's basically the iPad except like an actual computer, which is way more legit and, to me, capable of so much more. It could change many lives because let's say you are at an airport and you have a college paper due by a certain time and you must submit it by a certain time, well heeey, you have it on your computer right in your hand, that's not a huge laptop. BAM you can submit your paper. It seems that it'd be much more easier to carry than a laptop, but the downfall would be the typing, which could be weird sometimes maybe.

The Audiovox Mobile MultiView Cam With Pedestrian Warning is basically a thing that uses camera technology to make pedestrians safer to cars and stuff. I think it will change our lives because I can see it somewhat becoming like a GPS for hitting pedestrians

Joos Orange is pretty nifty. It uses and stores solar power so you can have an outlet wherever. Phones wouldnt ever be dead, and i think this would cause us to be a little too in touch with technology.

It's sunglasses with a camara inside and you can view the pictures on the lenses. It could change a lot of our lives because if you see something bad and nobody else sees it you can take a picture of it and tell the police so they can take care of it and make the world a better place...and they're going to be apart of Lady Gaga's Grey Lable line.

To get credit this week you MUST:
1) Pick a new gadget.
2) Tell me which site it came from.
3) Tell me how it will change our lives.

If YOU can't follow instructions by January of this year, *I* can't justify giving you a grade.

Kthx.

GE WattStation
Category: Portable Power

this is wattstation that is in pariking spaces where when in the future there will be more electric cars, this can quickly charge the batery of the car. i think that this is helpful to the future because this will help decrease the pollution of cars, save money that people use for gas, and it will save the nonrenewable resources. i think the wattstation is cool too becuse the companies of the wattstation can watch the energy consumption of your car also.

I would perfer a remote but i like this tv i would buy it even do i think it will cost a fortune. Maybe it could change our lifes by having to actually get up and touch the tv to change the channel? I dont know! but it looks super duper cool

I chose the prototype 3D head mounted display because it looks all futuristic and it will eliminated the need of buying those really expensive TVs.

One bad thing about this would be that your neck might hurt from wearings those huge things for hours. Maybe they should make them smaller since it is still a prototype.

I think the Kinect(http://www.pcworld.com/article/210287/2011_ces_best_of_innovations_honorees.html) might be useful for our life.
this gadget is now quite famous all over world. It's designed for game, but I've seen a whole bunch of example that people use it for someone else.
I watched a video yesterday. In the video, there are a group of doctors doing an operation with a Kinect on the desk. And the doctor can just switch among different X-ray images on the big screen by wiping his hands in the air. This will keep his hands clean during the operation.
The Kinect just provide us a way to have a job done without touching anything.

live chinging in the big video screen..everybody will want to see tv now!!!
LOVE IT!!

The Dynamics Card 2.0 is a credit card with its own touch of technology. You can swith to different accounts by pressing a button on the card. Thats so cool! Instead of carrying multiple credit cards you just carry one. This can change our lives for us by making it easier to carry less junk around.

This is the Eee Pad Transformer laptop that splits in two to turn into a tablet to go anywhere and reconnect to funtion as a home laptop again. This sounds pretty cool for those people who can't decide on whether to get a laptop or a tablet computer, like my bro. I would definitely put my money on this.

No more lugging around that huge cann 400x zoom, this camera just sets on your face looking real stylish!

The Xoom Tablet with Flash video software and cameras for videoconferencing and photos, will be available in February as the first tablet running on Google's Android operating system.
It offers a large screen sized at 10.1 inches versus the Apple tablet's 9.7, and with a higher 1280-by-720 pixel resolution. It includes both a 2-megapixel camera on the front and a 5-MP camera on the back, combined with Google's own Google Talk video-calling software built in.

Wow, I've always loved the idea of wireless earphones. Just last week I was talking to a friend of how cool they would be. I mean, you could use them during a boring math class :). But really, you wouldn't have to get frustrated over tangled earphones (I know everyone does, it's like they tangle themselves on purpose). Besides, it's just plain cool.

The Sleek Audio SA7 Wireless Hybrid Earphones are really cool. It can change our lives by listening to your music without those annoying wires tangling in your way everything you change your position. Now you can listen to music freely laying down on your bed at night without have to worry about the wires getting in your way and getting pulled out accidently. These earphones gives the freedom of movement.

Its the Eee Pad Transformer by AsusTek. You can use it like a regular laptop or you can split it and the other half works as a tab. I would love to have that because if i wanted to do my work at home I would use it as a laptop but if i was on the road or something i would use it as a tab because it would seem more convenient.

2.9mm thick OLED televisions by LG Electronics this would be a good electronic to have because we wont have to worry about buyin so many tv's, but the good thing is that we kan also have a multiple of them to watch at the same time.

I think that the Sleek Audio SA7 Wireless Hybrid Earphones is awsome, it can change from wired to wireless and use tech called Kleer to stream from an audion source. they are not easliy damaged, they block out ambient noise, and you can fine-tune the audio from the earbuds

it's a OLED televisions by LG Electronics it's 2.9mm thick. i think it works just like a regular tv would the only diffrencies is that they dont plug anything to it its wireless and you see the tv through a glass. i also think that it would help people in there vision because they wont stand close to the tv because they would be scared to break it.

So the cooolest thing that i saw was on www.foxnews.com, Image 7. They are these camera sunglasses that seem to be more for spying than blocking sun rays. They take pictures of what you choose to take pictures of and display the image on the screens in the lenses. Its like something out of a movie. I liked this because when you go to the movies and they give you those 3D, some people cant use them because they already wear glasses and they cant take them off and be able to see. So this way they can have their own perscription glasses to where they can watch it in 3D.

i found this really cool thing on pcworld.com on slide 24 there is a camera that you can install to the license plate, and in your car the screen sits on the dashboard. this is very usefull because it can help a person see if there is anything behind them like a bike, another car or a pedestrian. this could change our lives by lowering the chances of little accidents so ppl wouldnt have to pay so much for car insurence.

image 7,Polaroid Polarez GL20 sunglass camera, would be a great thing to have on a sunny day that is perfect for picture taking. glasses like might take up less space then an average polaroid camera, now you can easily and instantly take pictures of those moments that sometimes happen to fast for a regular camera, and could also cause a big fashion trend now if only they came in regualar reading glasses and not only in sunglass then those who use reading glasses could kill two birds with one stone by buying new reading glasses and a camera

The new HTC evo on page 14 is a beast phone that allows you to do pretty much anything. 4g coverage super fast internet and 8 mega pixle camera allows to take clear pictures and great videos that you can upload straight to the internet and a 1.3 megapixel camera facing the front to allow you to video chat with others... sadly 4g is only available in large metropolitan areas such as Houston so the chances of using 4g in Nacogdoches are 0.

This could change our lives because when you have a really important paper do and your printer breaks the night before, you can just take your little tablet to school and show your teacher you did it, the options for what you do with this may be a little limited but its still really cool and something you could use everyday.

It's a brilliant design and it looks pretty hoss. I would definitely rely on this to get my back to full strength if I got hurt. Cyberdyne is free to use machines to take over the world as long as they keep pumping out products this legit.

This could really change our lives as game players could essentially be "one with the game" due to the three 120Hz monitors and a pair of Nvidia's graphic cards.

omg!!! a touch activated dinosaur!!!! but seriously im impressed with the size of it and that it has all that tech in it 12 motors a video camera and like 17 touch sensors along with other gizmos to recognize the owners voice.... if we put that technology in other places like cars and phones then we wont have to worry about robbery and car theft just sayin

Many phone companys (as in the services) are releasing "Tablets" in February or so. These tablets are laptops with high-speed processing (of course) with built-in cameras as well as audio input, so this would be a wonderful product for business men who have to "attend" meetings. Simply plug these bad-boys in and you're right in the action....so to speak.

I picked the Tv's that have a 2.9 mm thick screen. They will change our lives by making it easier to carry tvs around.

Sony Internet TV & Blu-ray Player Powered by Google TV found at the pcworld website. I definately want one of these because it'll give you a waaay bigger screen to view the internet from, plus a more comfortable seat then your crappy desk chair. Sure, this will make people never want to get away from the tv and make people lazier, but it's awesome!

I landed on washingtonpost.com

The computer that can turn 360 and has complete Windows 7. It's amazing I think it would help alot in a teaching class room.If a teacher needed to show the students something online. It's more flexiable and seems more efficient it would make using a computer a lot easier

I think that the action video camera is really neat on the last website. You can do anything and not have to worry about dropping the camera or losing it. You could climb a mountain or even dive down into the ocean. I think it is neat for people who do that type of thing.

The LG Touch TV is my favorite by far because its so rawesome. It'll make everything so much more easier to use on the tv, like even simple turn up and turn down the volume, and changing channels, this tv will change LIVES!

on the third website the thing that will most change our lives is the GE WattStation. it is what you think of when you think all electric cars must be plugged in at some point.

Unless you've been living under a rock, you might have noticed that a majority of new electronics get smaller and smaller, which means they take up less space. This could be taken into consideration that the smaller things get and the further we advance our technology, the less space we will have to take up. These new LG tv's for example, could alter how an entire building is made, because of its size (and the size of all of the other new gadgets) we dont need as much room. that is, unless, you're a selfish old man who can afford to have gigantic rooms.
