Hola Peeps!
I heard from a lot of you that there was some interest in robotics technology, so I started doing a little research. Turns out robotics is a pretty broad spectrum that encompasses many different areas.
Here's a good site for a general overview of advancing robotics technology:
http://www.roboticstrends.com/
Under the latest stories heading there are 6 different tabs. Pick the one that interests you the most. Please don't just stop on "Service and Healthcare" because that's what comes up first.
In order for you to receive credit this week you must do TWO things: 1) Tell me which story you're commenting on. 2) Tell me how it might change our lives. Please wait until Thursday to comment.

i choose Industry and Manufacturing and i got an article titled "Robotic Flexible Feeding System Announced" and it is about this roboitc feeding system that takes up less space, but can do the same job. i believe that this feeding system could make some of our workers job less of a hassle.
I chose security and defense. :o
"AeroVironment’s Global Observer UAS Achieves Historic First Hydrogen-Powered Flight"
Basically i read a well worded, and insightful passage about hydrogen powered flyers. Its pretty exciting stuff really. With longer lasting fuel range and altitude heights that reach around 5,000 ft above sea level.
While high endurance flight levels seem a bit boring, to me at least, the reality of it is that it saves fuel, which saves money.
Saving money is good for all. Possiblities of lower taxes and more efficient war gadgets saves lives i tell you. I dig it. Hope you do. :) ;)

I chose Security and Defense, Article about Remote-Controlled Vehicle that Clears Minefields.
I think this will help our soldier in unknown territory to survive longer. I have seen soldiers with missing legs and it was probably because they stepped on land mines.
This vehicle will prevent all of this bad things from happening.
I chose Research and Academics and i read the article about the advances of prosthetic arms. It has advanced. With the Brain-Machine Interface method hundreds of nerve channels can me reached. This will make these robotic technology, prosthetic will be more like a nature limbs for people.
i thought the Robot Therapy Improves Arm and Shoulder Mobility After Stroke was cool and very helpful so that is why i picked it. strokes are a big thing in the usa and the people how have stokes need to have someone there to help them so this will change the live of all the people it help so i like it. but i dont know really what all this thing dose cuz i dont know that much about storkes all i know is you can have one and never know it or have one and cant walk ether way it will help
i am going to comment on Research and Academics>Prosthetic arms to get more real. i think that the prosthetic arms will help us because i think that it will help the people with amputees to get another feel of having an arm, and it will be more real. this will help them emotionally and physically.
I chose Research and Academics. My topic is called "Prosthetic Arms to Get More Real". It talks about how they are trying to make the prosthetic arm become more real like an actual arm. I think this could change people's lives because this won't limit people's movement in their arms, they can feel more comfortable, and be able to do more things.
I chose the Service and healthcare medical field. On the article "Sensor on mars rover to measure radition". This was about a robot sent to mars and it will measure the radiation on mars. I guess this could be helpfull because if they want to send a human up there they need the right suit for that. It will be an improvemnt.
i chose design and development...
Airship Program Completes Critical Design.....
They are building 3 milestone yets that are going to be built in the next 10 months... thei are or might be user in army cases!!
I chose "Personal Robotics Market to Top $19 Billion in 2017
" under the tab "Consumer and Education".
I like the idea of personal robotics, but they need to be smart enough if the companies want me to buy one...I like putting my gears on the floor and I don't want them to get stuck in the robots wheels.
If they really want people to use robots--to rely on robots, they'd better make sure that people can rely on them any time they want to, or people would feel terrible when they realise that the remote controller is gone.
By the way, I absolutely don't want a scary human-liked machine walk around in my bedroom.
I choose Research & Academics the article about "Roches Help Improve Robotics Technolgy."...This is article is very intresting because the roches and also other insects help the robots fly long distance..and I did not know that they could be so useful and helpful with technolgy.
I chose the story over "Surgical Robot Assists in Lung Cancer Surgery" , I think this can change change our lives by making cancer surgery more easy and precise .
I choose an article in the Service and Healthcare, "Robot Therapy Improves Arm and Shoulder Mobility After Stroke". I believe it must be a useful invention. This kind of robot has five levels of assistance so it can heal the patient more directly. Besides, it can carry out repetitive movements and this is the thing human phisical therapists can't do.

I am commenting on the M1 Abrams Panther II remote-controlled vehicle. It is pretty much a tank that has been stripped of its turret and replaced with Omnitech’s standardized tele-operation system. It allows the tank to remotely find mines in the battlefield. After wathing the hurt locker, i now see that this will save more lives in the war.
so im going to talk about the U.S. Navy X-47B Unmanned Combat Aircraft i think that this aircraft will most likely change the way we fight future wars..imagine if they made 10,000 of these we could fight other countries during wartime and we wouldnt lose not one soldier
I chose security and defense and picked the U.S. Navy’s X-47B UCAS aircraft. It flew up to an altitude of 7,500 feet at speeds up to 200 knots in one of its first practice flights. This thing is a thug and a ready for combat and could change the game in warfare.
I chose the "Emergency Room Robots Now In Development."
The craziness that happens in ER's in hospitals can be overwhelming sometimes. So, they are making robots that will help and check on those who aren't in immediate danger. This would take the load off of the doctors who are rushing back and forth between situations. This could also make going to the ER less of a hassle for people.
i say we go with the talkin ford make vehicles that should start appearing in 5 to 10 years... vehicles will communicate with one another using Wi-Fi to avoid accidents. i think this would be more of an advantage to drunk people or people who dont know how to drive. it remings me of the self driving google car. just snother think we dont have to worry aobut crashing and driving.
Prosthetic Arms to Get More Real: i chose this because i think it couold really help out the people who have arms amputated. normal prosthetic arms have 6 to 8 nerve channels. the one that is in development is expected to have hundreds. (the real arm having thousands) this new prosthetic arm is should be able to actually feel things and your brain react to it
and know what your arm is doing. i believe this would really change our amputees and help us develop better prosthetics for them.
I chose "Blind Man to Take to the Road at Daytona International Speedway". Its about how they're developing technology so that blind people can drive. I think it will change peoples lives because there are people that are blind and would like to do things like drive do and this would let them do that safely.
i CHOSE RESEARCH & ACADEMICS ABOUT THE "Prosthetic Arms to Get More Real"
AND I THINK IT CAN CHANGE OUR LIVES BECAUSE THERE ARE MANY AMERICANS AND EVEN NON AMERICANS THAT HAVE LOST AN ARM AND CANNOT LIVE A NORMAL LIFE. WITH THIS PROSTHETIC ARM THEY CAN NOW LIVE A NORMAL LIFE AND BE HAPPY!!
surgical robot assist in lung cancer surgery
this could make safer cancer surgery i belive they could make more robots to do differnt task
in the medical feild from the base technology used in this one it reduces the pain and scars thats very good
Security and Defense: Remote Controlled Vehicle-
A modified M1 Abrams Panther II was designed to clear out mine fields without the use of people. It’s safer for the soldiers and more efficient. no more mine sweapers or walking carefully through a field, the tank will take care of the job and make it safe to travel for the soldiers.
I chose security and deffense and i like the article about the remote control vehicle that clears minefields. i think this thing is a great advancement because if you were a solider and you were walking on a field you think had mines all over it you would be pretty scared and nervous and you could easily lose your life but this vehicle will definatly reduce that risk
I chose the article titled Robotic Flexible Feeding System from the Industry and Manufacturing. This could help our lifes by doing the job for us. This could make our workers less stressful.
Commenting on Research and Academics...
"Prosthetic Arms to Get More Real"
I think it will help ourlives by those who have had a stroke it helps them to get a feel for their arm, wrist, and fingers again.
Okay so i choose security and defense tab and then choose the remote-controlled vechicle clears minefield...The reason i choose this one is cause it seems like a briilint idea and this can so change people lives and the act of war... This device can saves people lives because lets say that the mine blows up we can always get another robot but we cant do that with humans so thats how this device can help save lifes but also change the ways of war.
I chose under Reasearch & Academic > Prosthetic Arms to Get More Real because it wil be useful physical and emotinal for people the need one.Being able to get the real feeling of having one almost real to what they use to have. It a good oppurtuniy to see what they missing out on.
i chose research & academics, "Georgia Tech Studies How People React to Being Touched by a Robot". Because i think that nurses and doctors will be replaced by the robots therefor more people without jobs.
X-47B UAS Completes Second, Third Test Flight
having unmanned navy aircraft will help to lessen the load on actual pilots
I read the Research and acedimics about the emergency room robot. I think it's a pretty neat idea. The fact that they are using robots instead of actual nurses or docters would save a lot of lives in a way. It's cool that they will tend to the patients with minor injuries instead of a docter missing a person with a life threatening scenario because they were dealing with some kid who sprained thier ankle. I see a problem!
http://www.roboticstrends.com/design_development/article/aerovironments_hummingbird_like_aircraft_meets_benchmark_standards
this is the little hummingbird aircraft... i think that this will help us in finding a safer way to spy on people, for example, in Libya.
what i choose is the service and healthcare n choose the article of "robot therapy improves arms and shoulders mobility after stoke" this article is mostly talking about how the new an improve the therapy machine is more affeincent to help the mobility of arms and shoulder that are unable to move back and fort is can be more easier and fast so that we are not trying to deal with pain.
Design & Development: AeroEnvironment's Hummingbird-Like Aircraft Meets Benchmark Standards. Does anyone else recognize the sheer awesomeness of a hummingbird robot? It can suspend itself in mid-freakin'-air just like the real thing. The flight objectives it got checked off on were pretty impressive: it demonstrated hover stability in a wind gust and in a virtual two-meter diameter sphere, hovered for eight minutes without an external power source, fly with the pilot only looking at the craft's live video stream from the monitor, and so on. The hummingbird craft's impact on future life can best be summed up in a quote from the DARPA NAV program manager, Dr. Todd Hylton: "The success of the NAV program paves the way for a new generation of aircraft with the agility and appearance of small birds."
Design and Development: Blind Man to Take to the Road at Daytona International Speedway
If the NFB Blind Driver Challenge can make it possible for blind people to be able to move around independantly in a automobile then the same can be done for others that are handi cap. With the new technology that can independice the handi cap they will be able to have some freedom without someone breathing down their necks doing everything for them.
i am going to comment on the article about prosthetic arms get more real. i think this can change our lives by allowing people who have lost an arm, to have the same ability to do as much as they did before they lost anything. by the prosthetic arm being more realistic.. they can do more with it than just move up and down. they could grasp little thigs and suchwhat.
I chose Service and Health Care.Robot Therapy Improves Arm and Shoulder Mobility after stroke. I think this could be a great help for people who get strokes. It will help them improve arm and shoulder mobility.
i chose Service and Healthcare, the article was Robot Therapy improves arms and Shoulder mobility after stroke... i think this could change peoples lives because it can get you back on your feet faster and you'll be able to do more things again because your arm and shouler strength will be back up.
i chose security & defence and looked at the M1 panther II minesweeper. two maned or teleoperated. i think this converted abrams tank can help keep soldiers feet safe from a michael bay style end without risking some crazy dudes with metal detectors lives.
Security and Defense - "Remote-Controlled Vehicle Clears Landmines"
I think this type of technology will make it a lot safer for soldiers to walk around. Ive seen/heard about how people step on land minds and, the ones who survive, end up missing limbs, losing vision, losing hearing, etc. So i think that this type of machinery while help troops a lot.
I read up on research and academics. The article was Roaches Help Improve Robotics Technology.
I believe it will change our lives because by studying the roaches scientist get more knowlege on movement and can make better use of energy, time and robustness.
Overall it will make technology more efficient.
I like the research on the fake arm(prosthetic) i think it would be good for people who have to war and lost limbs or had a wreck and lost something etc. i thik it will make them feel like they can still do what they use to do and not feel like they have to be attended to all the time.
I chose security and defense and picked the article about the remote controlled vehile that cleared the minefields. This remote controlled vehicle could change our lives because it could be protecting loved ones in the army. Instead of putting soldiers in the vehicles to navigate them, you could just use a remote control to navigate them.
im commenting on the blind man driving, under the design and development tab. This can cause blind people to be more independent. They would be able to go places by themselves and not have people worried about them
i chose security and defence and read the article about the X-47 UAS Completes Second, Thrird Flight test, which is a new type of jet that is able to fly without a pilot and its the first of its kind since this is the only full sized jet that is able to be controlled from a computer, i think this would be really helpful to our pilots and to the soldiers on the ground because there wont be any casualties to the air force and with computers the plains would be able to have more precise accuracy while dropping bombs or something...that is untill someone puts a virus in the computer and highjacks the plane and goes on a killing spree...just sayin
The Mars Machine seems like it could better our lives by finding out important information about mars so when the earth is destroyed we can move to mars.
i chose Design and Developed the artical that got my attention was about how a blind man could drive becasue of this kind of thechnology. I think that this certin thec. would help a lot of disable prople to do things that they couldnt do.
I chose Surgical Robot assists in lung cancer surgery and i think it could change our lives by being more accurate and not make many mistakes.
Robot Therapy Improves Arm and Shoulder Mobility After Stroke is the article I'm commenting on. It would help the paralyzed people go through rehab more successfuly. They think if you use this instead of going through regular exercise you will do better. I think if tye robot gets more advanced it probably could do the things they say they can. I would just love to see this technology get out so it can do what it have to do.
I am commenting on the U.S. Navy X-47B Unmanned Combat Aircraft. I think the best thing is that our brave men and women dont have to be in it to be in combat making it safier for them and there by making it easier for the us.
i chose security and defense
well it said that the new aircraft
x-47b completed its second, third flight runnnig on hydrogen fuel. alse the aircraft and reach graet hight like 7,500 ft and pretty fast to 200 knots.
i chose surgical robot assist in lung cancer surgery but the problem is that they can only perform surgery on 1st stage cancer it can help save lives but not that many cause they only use it on 1st stage cancer and its better because you dont have to cut the people big time.
I decided to talk about Security and Defense: Remote Controlled Vehicle Clears Minefields.
I strongly feel that this new remote-controlled machinery is possibly one of the safest ways to provide transportation for soldiers through minefields since the vehicles true purpose is to destroy the mines in the field. The technology in the M1 Abrams Panther II allows it to spot the mines so they can be eliminated. This could reduce the death rate outrageously if the production of these vehicles is multiplied.
I chose Prosthetic Arms Get More Real under research and academics, which describes the improvements that are hoped for in prosthetic limb technology. If this were to work, then the lives of amputees would improve.
I chose design and developement
on "Blind Man to Take to the Road at Daytona International Speedway"
this is a very good thing for Visually Impaired people because they will no longer have to rely on other people to get to places they need.
Remote-Controlled Vehicle Clears Minefields:
it would be good to have that 4 the army to get across a mine field in war or one of their own...so nobody will blow up.
Prosthetic Arms to Get More Real:
if u had a prosthetic arm and u went into a mall every1 would look at u all wierd and a big o ? on their face. but if they look more real than the 1s with the arm will feel like theyr being the center of every1. and it would be easyer if they r gittin more real to put on cloths and take off, make food and so on.
The Eurohawk UAV making a 30 hours sweep is impressive. This will greatly benefit recon operations and would allow for great lengths of surveillance and information being fed to troops on the ground.
im doing the ABB Robotics: From the Factory Floor to the Stage
thing and the way it will make a difference in our lifes is that it will cut down peoples jobs and people will be jobless and be hoboes
I chose Security and Defense, reading on a Remote-Controlled Vehicle in the form of a tank that can clear minefields without placing any people in harms way. This will not only keep people safe but also unlock future possibilities for more un-manned military equipment and vehicles.
I'm commenting on the article about the free-swimming underwater glider. Released under Antarctica, it collects data from areas where people cannot go. It could be useful in finding out more about Antarctica's environment.
1) Security & Defenses: Remote-Controlled Vehicle Clears Minefields
2) I think this would change our lives in the fact that it would save lives. It's remote controlled, so no soldiers have to manually drive it and risk their lives when they make a mistake, plus it clears the mine fields so soldiers wouldn't die if they walk across it.
So i landed on research and academics and found a prossthetic arm. The hand, wrist, and fingers are controlled through thousands of nerve channels. plus this brings feedback to the brainso if you touch something hot it tells the brain its HOT!!! I can see this helping people out as its able to register touch kinda and that in my eyes seems extremely important
I chose the Emergency Room Robots. It would absolutely make the ER go so much faster and it would help out many doctors. The fact that there will be a sign in that can look up through all of your records to find your problem and send you back if you need immediate attention is really good. Also the other neat thing is that there will be robotic nurses that will take blood pressure, oxygen levels, etc. so it can make time go faster in the actual rooms is really intelligent as well. I hope that goes through because if I ever have a problem or if any of my family in the future does, that would be really convenient :)
001. I am commenting on the "Roaches Help Improve Robotics Technology" article.
002. I think that this will change our lives because adapting the cockroaches biology, physiology, and "maddening locomotive skills" to a small robot will make said robot better suited for tasks such as space travel. Plus, it just looks plain cool.
in security and defense, i got "Remote-Controlled Vehicle Clears Minefields". it used to be a tank but it was stripped from its turret and now its worthless, until someone came with an idea to use it as a vehicle to clear vast lands full of minefields. its very useful for our infantry and other land vehicles and since its controlled by a control remote, we dont have to worry for any casualties if an accident happens. I heard that there are still minefields in vietnam since the last war, it would very fascinating if we could use the vehicle to make vietnam a better place without minefileds
I chose Design & Development>Blind Man to Take to the Road at Daytona International Speedway.
Wow...although it does seem scary to let a blind person drive I Think Thats Pretty Neat and it would be a great Experience for Blind People.
i chose the security and defense tab and looked at the little guy on mars. I think this could change out lives because with all this knew ifo about other planets we might be able to find something usefull that we need (like the cure for cancer or something who knows)
Emergency Room Robots Now In Development.
I think this will help doctors because they can be more precise. It would make surgery go more smoothly and make it quickly. It would cut down on the long surgeries and possibly even the deaths
I was more interesting in the Academic section. I did not really find anything on there that I could use except maybe the robotic car. I know there are a lot of things for blind using robots and that is good. The car would be a good way for me to get around, but I would be nervous about using it.
Fire-X Vertical Unmanned Aircraft Successfully Completes First Flight
The more and more that technology becomes self sufficient, as scary as it seems, the less we need to depend on it. Instead it will depend on itself, so that we can focus on something more important (i.e. making something else automatic). anyways, this is important to us because every day we rely more on technology to protect us, and without it we'd basically be blind. the more it can do on its own, the less we have to worry. unless something goes wrong with it, then we'd have to fix it. duh.
I would choose Prosthetic Arms in Research and Academics because it would be useful for people who lost their arms. Losing a body part wuld be the worst thing in the world for me. Having the ability to have movement would be awesome for those sorry souls who lost their arms in an accident. I fully support this robitic technology.
i chose the new prosthetic arm under research and academics.
i think it would help mainly a lot of injured soldiers that lost their arms in war.so they would feel like they never lost their arm.
