OK, folks. Time for some honesty.
I've been a bit disappointed in the blog this year. Instead of open discussions about where technology is going I feel like it's just another grade for the week. I'm trying to figure out how to get back to making this a forum for exploring technology.
Please help me do that.
Log in and give me an open honest opinion about where this blog should go. How do I make it more discussion-like without mandating how many times a week we log in, etc.

The blog should be based on real topics going on in life like 2012, new diseases, Osama's death and what we all feel about the school rules....DRESS CODE!!!

I'm trying to figure out how to get back to making this a forum for exploring technology.
Maybe one of the problems is that we've forgotten the original mission of the blog. It's how TECHNOLOGY affects our everyday life.
I'm not looking for ideas for specific blogs here. I'm looking for ways to improve the blog OVERALL. How can it be more of a discussion instead of just a daily grade for the week.
Instead of giving us 10 minutes to read the blog Tuesdays, we should just read for 5 minutes and use the extra 5 minutes in discussions in the classroom orally. Cause I know many people don't read the blogs but discussing them during class will actually force people to think and bring their perspective in the open. So when Thursday comes for blogging, people will actually blog what's in their mind instead of just typing something down for the heck of it.
We should dicuss what kinds of technology we NEED in our life and why it will be helpful to society.
Well you could use technology that others find and put it on here and itll give some others a more of an insentive to look and find better tech with out you having to look for it. People would probly want to strive and compete so they can be on the blog with there name shining by it. And this way people could give negative remarks because they didnt get onto the blog like they wanted, and others will debate against that person if you let us blog more then just once. At least i think that would help a bit.
I feel like people would discuss more if it were more than just log on and leave your comment.. I think that the blog should be more like a facebook or chatroom where people log on, have a discussion topic, then talk to each other about their opinions on the topic.
We should talk about the future and how Osama isnt dead and about UFOs.
I'm all in favor of saving a short time during class for an open classroom discussion about whatever the blog post is for the week. With that, the post becomes more than a grade and gravitates to more of an honest, actual discussion.
I actually like Wilson's idea, because it will get things going and you will get to hear everyone's opinions and get explanation rather than just reading what they say a little bit. I also feel like we would learn a whole lot more doing that as well.
I think we should be free to dictate what sort of technology we want to discuss. Something we are totally passionate about. I could spend hours really getting in depth sharing video game and military technology and how I feel about all that. If anything, I'd like to discuss 3D technology and how crappy its going to make stuff.
I think while still having blog, we should also do some sort of whole-class discussion just to verbally announce and spread ideas about technology. This would allow everyone to be able to announce their own ideas verbally to the class, rather than just type some random things for a grade.
I think we should have the option to comment on other ppls comments for our grade instead of just what the blog says to comment about. That would turn it into a discusion instead of just a grade

If you guys could comment on EACH OTHER'S stuff instead of just answering my questions it would automatically be more of a discussion.
Also? I've tried the in-class discussion thing. It starts out great and then ends up being the same 4 people in the room having a discussion while everybody else sits around listening.
Maybe the thing is the grade. Maybe I shouldn't be concerned with making sure it's a grade. But I don't know how else to make sure everybody participates.
maybe we could find a technology website that has how we've come to & where we're going with technology. i may sound like a nerd, but video gaming technology fascinates me! i would like to explore maybe how it works.
I think if we took a day and researched and read up on the topics a little more we would have a more educated opinion. Not just an opinion based on the looks or some of the features. This would force us to understand the good and the bad of new technology and develop an actual opinion.
I would like to see some present technologies. Maybe let students to find topics for the blog, every week somebody else. I think that would be fun for students and they would be more interested in doing that. They would try to find something interesting to get a good grade.
I think the problem about this discussion is that there are too many people, and there is not much can be discussed. Sometimes those gears posted on the blog are just cool, hard for us to find something to discuss.
Mrs. L I think you should divide the class room into two, right side vs left side. Once you divide the class have one side comment about the topic. Then make the other side comment on the other side's comment that way you might actually get a discussion going.
i'm kinda with Tristan, i think that we should talk about the blog orally, that way we grasp the concept better, i know that people sometimes wanna just blog to get it over with, but when we talk about it as a class, i'm sure that it will actually focus us more on the technology topic.
I think we should talk about the MUSIC INDUSTRY.Its something that we all can give an opinion on because we all enjoy it.

Mrs. L, since you've tried the in class discution, and it doesn't work, you could go from person to person in class, half the class on tuesday, and half the class on thursday.
I think that we should talk about the blog a little more in depth or more than two times a week because then we can think about the topic more and give better interest in the blog.
I Feel like the blog is anothedr grade sometimes. I think we should answer each others blogs. Like blog but then go back and blog on another persons blog. That way other ppl can not just read others blog and reword it.
i think we should keep conversations going instead of jst leaving a coment for mrs.l to read.. and i think we should talk about more interesting conversations yeah technology when its new is interesting...but i wish we could tok about diff topics than jst technology..sorry Mrs.L lol i love tech but it gets on my nerves sometimes

I read the blog in early years, I think compare to today's blog, they have more information and it seemed not a periodical thing. Just put things you like on this blog, such us introduce hardwares to us(well, maybe you have no interest in them though, just an eg.) or anything else. Think about the way to make sure everyone read it and don't make this a passive comment thing.

I think that the blog has been okay. I really have enjoyed the Yanko Designs, but anything new would be fun too, maybe school issues that we can discuss.
We should talk more about Bin Laden's death, and how exactly he got killed in detail.

what i would like to talk about is more house tech. not just kitchen tech. i want to talk about possible house tech. like auto tooth brush, blow dryer and washers that dry and fold also, etc.

I don't see the point in talking about self-driving cars or military technology if we don't have access to it. If we talk about the technology affecting our lives, it will make this more of a discussion because people will have real and honest opinions about it.
I really think we should talk about new inventions around the world I really like technology, where it's heading and the ideas that people have. I know there are some ideas are just down right stupid! but a lot of it could completly change the world. It would be nice to have open disscusion about good ideas for technology and stupid ones.
Sometimes it's hard to find something good to say about the topics, so I think that we should get more involved in it somehow. like pick more interesting topics, or talk about it in class. I don't know, just something to make it a little more intriguing.
Space travel and or music
I think we should talk about school technology and how it really affects the student population. Like, how our new "smart boards" actually help us. And also, I like everyone's ideas about disscussing the blog in class. Because, once you've talked it out, it really does get your mind going.
We should have the in class discussion and be able to comment on other's thoughts. It should be a requirement to blog more than once a week also because that way if someone comments on your thoughts you can always defend what you said or agree with what they said.
i think that they should talk about like some of the bad things that technology is doing for us,... like making us lazy! ;)
well the blog should be something more were we can discuss more and about thing that are happing right now and would be on later on in life

I agree with commenting on other people's blog. If we could do that for a grade it would create a very good discussion. Open discussions in the classroom could lead to better blogs. We could also discuss things that people like/dislike but still keep it as technological as possible. I really like looking up items on Yanko because their stuff is awesome. Also, i think that if we talked about more technological things going on now it would make studenets want to discuss why it is needed, how it would help, etc.
i think the blog should talk about the advances for the next year. for example how much techno will be having. how the techno will affect or will be benificial for us. This kind of things should be explain in the blog
I beleive that you are doing a good job with the blog i think that we as students should apply ourselves more.
I read Wilson's comment on Tuesday and I agree with it very much. Taking the time to discuss things in class would get the class involved and it would give everyone the oppurtunity to express their own opinion. I think it is definitely something worth trying at least.

Group discussions, in addition to blogging, would improve the whole experience. It allows everyone to actively add their input to the discussion.

dicuss in the class or comment on other peoples post or make extra valid posts extra credit or each week have a student find technology related topics and give you the information then you decide out of them.

i think maybe of just taking a grade for 1 blog u could have everyone actually discussing and getting envolved with the topic, the more comments someone enters the better the grade they get, but this will mean that ud probobly have to make the time for the blog longer, maybe even as homework...but that would be too much, just saying
I think there should be like a chat box linked to everyones computer where Mrs. L can start us off, give us a topic and we just give our opinions on it where anyone in the class can respond to what you said,and as long as you post some kind of commet or opinion in the chat you get a grade for the week

I actually have no problem with the blog! I don't see what's wrong really, I like all of the topics that you choose to show us and everyone one have been very interesting.
I guess instead of only focusing on what ourselfs think we should have a class discussion about the topic and write a blog from that.
I think that instead of actual blogging, we should have a 5 to 10 minute oral discussion about current events, like Obama's re-election campaign or Osama Bin Laden's death.
maybe we should discuss in class about what kind of technology would interests us; and then impost it in a chatroom where everybody will be heavily involved and not be "another blow off grade"

Since its the end of the school yewar and everyone is fed up on school already we should talk about where we'd like to go for summer break and where we will go.
I think that most of the stuff is cool and we don't have much to discuss about.
