Blog 16 1/2/12

Hola peeps! Thanks for logging in.

Next week is CES in Las Vegas. It's also midterms so we won't blog about it until the week after, but in the meantime I want you to google CES (Consumer Electronics Show) and see what comes up.

And THEN I want to look at the Best of 2011 on Yanko. Here's the link.

http://www.yankodesign.com/2011/12/23/best-of-yanko-design-2011/

Pick one of the BEST OF products and talk about it.

This is a DISCUSSION. I want opinions with reasons!!! If you can't give me that much effort, then I can't give you enough effort to type a 100 in your grade book!

Talk to me . . .

http://www.yankodesign.com/2008/09/30/fire-hose-illuminates-your-smoldering-memories/

The illuminated fire hose (p 400) is a really great idea. If firefighters are able to see better when they're putting out fires, there wouldn't be as much damage or loss of life. The LED's being powered by a turbine is much better than trying to drag an extension cord through a burning building. Since the lights are integrated with the hose, firefighters don't have to hold two things.

Okay Mrs.L I landed on page 433 amd I really like this "Fesh by A Blue Light" item, because we all like to eat fruit everyonce in a great while, but sometimes we just dont finish the fruit in time before it spoils. Well this item has a small half-moon bowl in the middle of it and a blue light on the top of the bowl going all the way around the top. There is something about this blue light that keeps the fruit fresh just a bit longer than usual. I would really like to have this someday, because I eat fruit everyday.

The Roomba Watch Out seems really cool because it's a vacuum, and you can do it manually, or it can vacuum by itself. That would be really handy if you had something else to do nd didn't have time to vacuum yourself.

The Xscape car,an idea for a type of car for the year 2030, is very interesting because of its numerous amount of functions, such as extending horizontally and being flexible enough to fit into condensed space....this feature alone would be an improvement to cars, especially for larger trucks and SUVs. It's also very safe, which means hopefully less trouble while on the road and going on trips.

I liked the eat better drink better bowls for my dogs because they do eat really fast. So the bowls are suppose to make them eat slower and drink slower. The bowls for eating has bumps in them and the drinking one allows a small amount of water to come out. I want to get these for my dogs because when I get home then I get a mess. All you dog owners should check this out!!

The technology that i found most interesting and useful was on page 401, they are "Semi Circle" Headphones, which are designed not to block out all noise. Although that would be a particularly negative trait for regular headphones, these are designed for athletes that need to hear the background noise and occurences around them. These "Semi-Circle" Headphones are designed to increase safety during productivity, and i would say that that makes the design worth-while...

I like this idea that they have came up with, because it comes with its own two eco-friendly water bottles with built in powerless thermometers. Well it would help some people stop their habit of disposing plastic water bottles and incourage them to use the filtered tap water from this fun filter.TUTT-1ST

Page 361/Decoding the Cries of a Baby: I like the using of the bracelets, because a mother with a new born baby may not exactly know what her baby wants or needs whenever he/she is crying. It is so cool how the pillow that the baby is laying on can send a signal to the mother’s bracelet telling her what is wrong with her child. It will save a lot of crying on both sides…

The USB watch is a great idea being that some one like me lose things and to have the USB on my wrist makes it hard to lose. I just want to say that a Bottle cap sharpner is the dumbest idea to come up with. The idea of getting shavings in my drink is dumb. The fone charger that looks like a ball of yarn caught my attention. It would really come in handy for people like me. I would deff buy this product. It could be as long or as short as you need it to be. It gives you the ability to be able to move around while your charging your fone instead of being glued by the plug or computer waiting on your fone to charge. I think its very useful.

The electric ferrari concept is really cool. I like how it can be run by solar panels that can be used and stored. Even the actual mechanical concept looks amazing.
As for the guitar, I actually drew one of these in a little invention book I had when I was a kid. Actually, I think I still have it. The touchscreen feature was the reason why I thought of it. Why develop calouses and not play just because of that very reason? Why not instead build a touchscreen that can preserve your fingers from being damaged and still play for hours. I believe this will be able to be used in the future very soon. To think that I can see my own invention come to life. ^_^

The "Best Of" product I picked is a small cell-phone shaped device that you can use to locate objects by putting small stickers on them that can be picked up by the device. This would be so awesome because how many times have you lost a remote or keys that took weeks to find? This would allow people to find any small objects quickly If someone had many drawers full of junk all they have to do is type in the name of the object and they know exactly where to look for it.

The Repunzel escape route thing is what i would want(reasonably that is, I would love one of those cars or yahts but..) Instead of saftey though, I would use it for recreational purposes of course. My only problem with it though is that i would need to know how much slack it has, how much weight it can hold, if it retracts, and if I can alter something to make it shoot out like a grappling hook.

The Keycontrol, the latest tracking technology for our personal items that we loose often!! I found it in the Best of Yanko 2011's page. This could change the world and and every persons life, especialy mine. We all loose things, wouldent it be great to stop loosing your phone, car/house keys, or your wallet!!!! It would be able to prevent more stress than we already have during or busy day. Plus when we're in a hurry you can just click and find the things you need that you could of forgot if you didnt have this new litte finder. I wonder if you could stick a sticker that it uses on people to track them? Haha my stalking equipment.

The Power Play Continues seems like a good idea to me. Not everything runs through a USB port, but a lot of it does. Being able to recharge these batteries makes buying new ones a waste of money. You can plug in a USB capable device into it if you need charging, and you can play the battery into a device that actually requires that type of bettery. It can be used many ways and is comfortable.

I love the Continuance concept. I don't know how many times I've been stuck with my phone barely hanging on with no charging source in sight. This would change that. Carry a few of them and you're golden. Even if it doesn't give a heck of a lot of juice per battery, I would bet it would be enough to help out in an emergency. Plus, this is a lot more convenient than carrying around a laptop or some other usb-enabled device for people who have to work outdoors or in other areas where a computer is not readily availible to plug up.

I LOVE THISSSS! I mean, I love how the phone is clear and totally great. But the finding stuff thing is even better! I lose just about everything and have the hardest time finding the things I lose, so this is a big thumbs up from me. I like how it tells you almost exactly where it is, and how it can find several different things with only the little sticker things. But it would really be bad if you lost the phone... Maybe if it had something to find the phone too :)

I think that the swtich plugs that can be easily turn or & off are very smart. For one reason people always leave switch plugs connected to the walls which just conserved up energy. By being able to them off you can save energy and the time needed to put them up. I personally, its a great idea.

I chose the Collector USB flash drive. I am the type of guy who puts everything on his flash drive, I have everything from games to classified files on my current flashdrive. If I where to ever loss my flash drive I would be in a heap of trouble. The Collector flash drive would make my life SOOOOOOOO much easier. It would make organizing and backing up data much simpler, and since the data is stored on physicaly separate SD cards I could just swap them out if I ever needed to. This idea also makes it possible to have so much more memory space than on a regular USB flash drive. Three 32GB SD cards equals 96 GB of memory in your pocket!! With all the advances in technology eventually you could end up carying around the same amount of memory space on your flash drive as you have on a desktop computer, that would be awesome.

I like the flexbook laptop alot it's really cool, it can become foldable and can look like a book or just have the screen. The laptop would be good for people who are always traveling like business employees or college students. It wouuld make room for folders and important documents in their travel bags. It could also be good for authors that like to write while they're doing everything so they could make it smaller for things like being at a cafe table and plates are taking up too much space. Or good for critics to write a review while eating.

I really like this one i like how it detects anything that you lose that make easier to find. I'm the type of person that loses a lot of stuff!! Its a useful thing.

The Biz Cafe is one of the most amazing concepts I've ever seen! The sleek, minimalist design makes the space feel very open, leaving plenty of room for socialization and cafe atmosphere among the technology. The compact work stations are impressive, especially the vertical printers. I'm also impressed with the eco-friendly touches, such as the ink eraser and the device that uses old cups to power the humidifier. The cell phone charging tables are so smart, since this is one of the main needs of the modern businessperson. I just... wow. It's so smart, and I expect to see cafes like these popping up in major cities soon, probably reaching smaller towns within a decade or so. I'd love to visit a place like this :)
