Blog 24 3/5/12

Hola!

Can I just say . . . . COME ON SPRING BREAK!!!!!

Whew. I feel better.

So last week I was watching Good Morning America and they featured a vibration machine that is for weight loss. For real. I could barely watch through the tears running down my face I was laughing so hard.

Back in the day I can remember my mom and aunt going to a gym for ladies called "Figure World" and it had a machine that jiggled you all over much like this new-fangled contraption.

So for credit this week go read this article and give me your opinion of this "new" idea of vibration machines. Will they work? If you lose weight from this machine will it last? Can I eat pizza while I'm using it?

And while you're at it, go Google and see if you can find a picture of the old-timey ones with the belt you wrapped around you.

Talk to me . . .

Okay now for my opinion on the "new" vibration Machine, IT WILL NOT HELP YOU LOOSE WEIGHT, mark my words! On the other hand I do think you can eat pizza while you are using it, but I think you would have a slight problem with the "gripping" of your pizza. Anyways, that is my opinion.

It is important to realize that motion in the ocean is weight loss..
Sadly, unless you keep doing it or remain active, all the weight will come back...
My grandmother used those original vibra-belts. Lol....
they arent much like the ones used today, which actively move your body as you move....

Umm... It looks like maybe it could work, but I really don't think it would. You definitely couldn't just sit there and shake and hope you lose weight, but it might help in conjunction with other training. I don't think the weight would stay off very well, and eating pizza would probably cancel it out. I'm wary of this and I definitely wouldn't buy one.

UMMMM....ok this idea that these people came up with is STUPID! Why in the world would anybody want a vibrating machine that supposedly causes weight loss? If you wanna vibrate and loose weight get up and go do some exercise, this machine just gives people another reason to lay around and be lazy and just hop on this machine when they feel the need to exercise. I think its dumb and a waste of time and money. TUTT-1st

GIRrL... i would be the one to stay up and watch glee while making all my jelly-roles jiggle on this contraption. I think its a great idea... this would help the extreamly obese people to loose some pounds so they can be able to get up and work out. I think they could add to it, you know like a electrical shock system, for massage and prevention of overeating. ha i would buy this machine if i had the time... ;)

my opinion to this vibration machines is, they is some pathetic machines. I dont think it will help you loose weight but it would help you loose money on them. And no you cant eat pizza while using one of them. ppsssshhh i think they is some crazy people who ever design does machines.
and here is one of some old ones that i found

i think the machine is for lazzy people that dont want to do real exercise. If you were serious about your fitness you would be out doing real exercise and not try to cut corners. I dont know if it works or not but it would mean that i would have to try it first. I think you could eat pizza while you use it. You can just sit on the vibrating thing and be eating your pizza so its possible.

And heres a link to apicture of a bunch of ladies using a belt vibrating machine.

The principle of this machine's design is that vibration stimulates more fibers in the muscle during exercise and therefore makes the muscle stronger. This has been confirmed through research over the last decade. However it is not effective for weight loss. Notice there were no "fluffy" people using it.

I don't think they would be a good idea because it would take forever to loose or start loosing any weight. I think normal excersice such as runnin could help you better. You wouldn't be able to do much in this machine either.

This machine is really weird. I don't think it works and I probably would not try it at all...lol

Will they work? Doesn't sound so appealing to me, I probably would not use it.

If you lose weight from this machine will it last? I don't think so.

Can I eat pizza while I'm using it. I'm sure you could but you would probably go to the bathroom afterwards. I'm sure cheeze pizza doesn't go good with rumbling stomachs.

So this vibration thing...it seems legit but I would almost consider it cheating. It's not really something that I would be interested in because it seems too easy, but I'm sure that is the appeal they're trying to make.

HAHAHA! Do people really use these? Exercising is waaaay less embarrassing than sitting/standing on a shaky machine.. But whatever floats your boat.
I dont think the results would last but it says it's "said to stimulate superior muscle-activation compared to conventional training, therefore less time may be required to work muscle groups completely". So I guess it could help with rehabilitation? But I'm not so sure about some super weightloss thing.
And besides, it says that having a healthy life and eating well help. But doesn't that help without using the vibration machine? Ha

I honestly think that the vibration machine is just kind of lame. I think that true workouts are more beneficial. This just makes us seem lazy by letting the weight "vibrate" off of your body. I think that true work should actually be done in order to lose weight and be healthier. The weight will probably just come back after awhile, and all that "work" would be a waste of time.

probably if you keep it up, but that is only iff you lose weight in the first place

First of all I have to say that if I walked into a gym with people using this machine I wouldn't be able to do much work because I'd be laughing way too hard. I think that it could work, but I don't think that you would just be able to do this and then expect to lose much weight. You'd have to do other stuff in the gym than just this. Then to answer that last question I doubt you would be able to eat pizza while using this unless you would like to wear it.

Here's my pic of the old vibration belt machines.

I feel like people will be able to lose weight if they can maintain there balance on these machines. Some of the new machines require you to step on them as they vibarte and to me that means I'm going to fall off of it while I'm working out. Also, Mrs. L I don't think eating pizza while working out would be the best thing to do, especially on one of these machines.

I definitely do not think that sitting there on the machine shaking you would help you lose weight. How does that work, and where does it go? It doesn't seem reliable at all. I don't think it would last either, I think that if you were to lose weight, you would gain it back again because you think you can just lose it again.

Would you really want your friends and family to know you have one of these? I mean, if you don't mind looking like a goofball doing something useless, I guess it doesn't matter, but... I have serious, generous doubts about the effectiveness of this machine and about the mental status of its users.
Also, if this worked everyone in Louisiana would be at a very healthy weight, because extreme vibrations from cruddy roads should work the same way, right?

My opinnion is that everyone is trying to get fit but they don't want to put forth the effort in order to achieve the physique they're striving for. This idea just seems very ineffective, and there isn't a lot of information on the site about HOW it works. This makes me think that it's a lot of hype and empty words, but the idea is pretty hilarious nonetheless. I don't feel like it's going to catch on, despite the website's claim that "whole body vibration training has hit the mainstream." It's just too sketchy and different; people aren't going to trust it.
