So I want to kick everything off with some cell phone talk. We'll probably be on this subject for a few weeks as we explore coming technology and how to effectively integrate it into the classroom.
I found this website that's got some pretty cool concept ideas. First let me explain what a concept is. Designers envision the coolest possible stuff that we can't even imagine yet, and then they jam it all into their design. Eventually SOME of the cool stuff will make it to the market.
Dictionary.com defines concept as an idea. So these phones are in the idea stage.
For this weeks credit you will need to visit the website below. Pick one of the concepts and tell us which one. Tell us about a concept feature on that particular phone that you would use and you find cool. OR pick one of the concepts and tell us which one and then tell us about a feature that you think is ridiculous and goofy.
As always, you'll need to sign your last name and class period to get credit.
I want you to go look at all the phones today. On Thursday I will want you to give your opinion. I like for you to let stuff marinade for a day or two so that your opinion is an informed one that you've had a chance to be able to explain. You can also disagree with someone else's opinion to advance the discussion.
It should look a little something like this:
I chose phone #4: HTC Magnesium Unibody. I dig the fact that it carries an extra battery that charges while I'm using the phone. I think it would also be helpful that the body of the phone is pretty hard to destroy.Talk to me . . .

I think the first phone is ridculous. No one would use a phone that has that big of a lens sticking out of it. It would be hard to even hold the camera up to take a picture because the phone is so thin.

i like that the i phone would put a bigger camera on the i phone but im not digging it so much because the phone just reminds me of the i phone 3gs which is not so bad but im just not digging that big o'l camera

I think the iphone 5 pro is the most rediculous thing i have seen... if your gonna carry something with a lense that big, you might as well just bring your normal camera. And also it would be too bulky to put in your pocket and imagine the damage that could happen if you dropped it...

I thought that the Apple iPhone 5 'Pro' absurd. I think that the idea of placing such a large bulky camera on the iPhone would be very unrealistic. No one would be willing to care it around . The concept of a mobile phone is to be as convenient as possible. The Apple iPhone 5 'Pro' is the exact opposite of convient.

Do you remember when those slap bracelets came out and how everyone wanted one? and then a few weeks later millions of them were piling up in dumpsters because everyone realize they were mega lame. thats what i think of when i see the nokia 888. everyone think it looks cool and gets one and then a few weeks later you realize that it is lame and kinda pointless. and of course now you cant do anything about it cause you spent alot of money on it. so now your stuck with this bendy phone and crushed dreams...

The interesting model i see on the website is the Philips Fluid concept idea, its nothing like what i would have imagined a phone would be like. I marks a whole new revolutionary design, stylish, compatible and fashionable. I think this phone will be HUGE if it hit the market.

I think the first idea of the iphone with the camera extension is riduclous. Where would you put it at. To big and bulky for my standards, although it would have a better camera. It would be a huge waste of time and money if apple went through with the idea. Why in the world would there be advanced cameras if a phone had an attachment on it. There should be a line between cameras and phones.

BlackBerry Flex Concept Phone: Okay, i think its cool that it wraps around or whatever; but, its kinda unnecessary. I don't have time to turn my phone over so i can get to an application. I need everything on one side; so i can scroll or click or .. you know, do what i need to do. So, final point: very cool but not very efficent.

My favourite phone was #15 the "HTC 1" because it could clean the screen with a UV light and it had a hidden speaker and a kickstand to be able to use it as an alarm clock and a small portable TV.

The phone that I just could not get my mind off of was the EXO Durable. I mean come on like how cool is it to have a phone that WON'T shatter because that's the most common problem with iPhones or any phones in this day and age. To have a shatter proof phone would just make any teenager happy and it looks pretty cool too.

I really like phone #5 the LG Exo concept phone, because most smart phones or touch screen phones break very easily, but because this phone has an exoskeleton it makes it very durable and hard to break. But I like how the phone isn't bulky and really big just because it has an exoskeleton. The designers made it very sleek and nice.

I really like the nokia kinetic because of it's design, I like the way it looks. I also like how it has the magnetic camera thing at the bottom that lets it stand on it's own, I think it's pretty cool.
