Blog 27 - April 29, 2013

Hiya!

Moving on to a new theme, I would like to talk about military technology.

Does anybody but me think it's crazy how the media manages to put our military business out on front street?

Back during WWII no one was allowed to talk about troop deployment, new technology, etc. I remember my mom saying that she would get letters home from my dad when he was in the war and they would have lines blacked out with big magic marker where he might have told her anything in the letter that could give away his location.

Now we have CNN and everybody knows what's going on the very minute it's happening.

*stepping off soap box now*

So along those lines, go view this Kiplinger article and click through some of the coming military technology. For credit this week you will pick one of these technologies and tell us how it can save lives in the field. "It's cool" will not garner you any credit. Not now, not ever.

Read Tuesday, blog Thursday.

Talk to me . . .

i like the meshwork camera because you could send it to enemy territory and find out when bombings and etc would take place.. because no one would think twice about looking for a camera on worms.

I really think the Robot Mules are very useful in saving lives. The Robot Mules are very useful in saving lives because it can carry heavier gear that can slow down soldiers on the field.

The meshworm would save many lives because it would replace a soldier. With the meshworm no soldier would ever have to take the risk of sneaking across enemy lines to obtain information.

I like the advanced bipedal robots because the military can use those to 'enter buildings in danger zones or to bring emergency medical supplies across battle zones' without putting their own lives in danger.

i think the meshworm thing is the coolest and by far one of the most effective military inventions because its nearly indestructible and undetectable

I like the Flybot because sometimes soliders are sent to places that are extremely to dangerous for them and the flybot can simply fly into the place and see whats going on.

I think that the rock em' sock em' robot would be good for saving lives in the fields, because it enters danger zones and bring medical supplies across the battle field to help wound.

I chose the Robot Mule. It carries gear and heavy material. I think it can save lives in the fields by letting soliders be able to move more and faster without having to carry heavy stuff on there backs.

I chose the meshworm because noone would ever think twice about a camera on a worm. It would also save a soldier's life. Instead of sendinga soldier to spy, the worm can be used in action instead.

The Flybot is an incredible new piece of technology. The Flybot engineers say it could also be used to find hidden chemical bombs! that would most definitely save lives

The Meshworm would really help on the field because it can move silently into the tiniest places to report back data, such as temperatures inside a confined space. It can also record audio and maybe even video in future versions,so that way we can see what other people are planning. However if someone tries to step on the worm, we'll be in a little bit of trouble...

The Live Fire Trainers would be very helpful on the fields. Becuase if they were to be used, they could be a distraction so that the real soldiers could take down the enemy.

i like the idea of the fly camera because its so small with just a little camaflage you would neverpay attention to it even if you did see it. if i was flying it id make sure to stay away from people or frogs or mr. miyagi!

I believe the meshworm could save a couple of lives , because of the information it can obtain. for example: they can slither around in to the enemies land and get confidential information need for safety and attacking and what not.

I chose the Microwave ray gun. That thing is kinda scary. If the army decides to ramp that thing up and turn our brains to jelly, not cool. And loud sounds give me a headache as it is and I don't like unnecissary loudness. Anyway back to what will give me a better grade. If the army take out an entire base with the one ray instead of alot of U.S. soldiors, that is a good thing.

Robots that Mimic Human Movement
is a good and a bad invention. It will help us if they know right from wrong. because if they dont they will turn on us and kill us all. This invention if in the right hands will save lives

The Meshworm is a great idea, it can help spy on enemies, prevent terrorism attacks, bombs, and so much more. The great thing about it is that it's undestructable, and plus, people aren't going to be looking at worms and checking if they are spying on them.

I think that the Microwave Ray Gun.

My absolute favorite is the Rock 'Em,Sock 'Em alien and i cant even lie right now the reason that I chose it is because of the fact that it has voice command and I could so totally use that to my advantage. As far as being used in the field it could be used to go into danger zones and carry out dangerous task that could get other people hurt. I'll be sure to have him up and running when i say "GET IN THERE AND MAKE ME A SAMICH"! The endless possibilities....muahahahahaha!

When it comes to military stuff I try to keep myself separated from the whole topic because I have this idea in my head that the less I know the more innocent I am to the dangerous world around us *cue the rainbow and unicorns*. That being said I think that any technology that could potentially save anyone that is fighting for the safety of the country is amazing in my book. Like that little mesh worm. Like I always think of spies that try to like get information but then get caught and tortured. But there would be no need for that to happen when you can just send in a little wormy thingy! Just saying you could save alot of spies lives and let them spy on other thinbgs like famous people! I mean I dont know about you but I really want to know what really goes on in Ke$has life... just me? ok..

I think the Flybot is really usefull to the military becasue its able to go, to dangerous places where soldiers arnt able to go, especially places where theres chemicals and other type of toxic stuff its also helps out the soldier because the Flybot is able to spot hidden boms and well this is why i like the Flybot

Marisol Alvarado- 7th period
Even though the Robotic Mule is primarily used to carry heavy cargo such as backpacks, it could potentially save lives in the field. It is also intended to follow a military unit of soldiers autonomously, catching up with the unit on field forays with supplies, including food and ammunition. Refinements have made the robot surprisingly quiet. So if there was a wounded soldier the mule could quietly carry him or her to safety.
