One more post about the video game industry, and then next week we'll be moving on to some other technology. If there's a particular technology you're excited about and want me to do some research on, let me know.
So I found this New Scientist article that was published last December that talks about the new gaming systems coming THIS year. It specifically talks about the nextgen of Wii (the U) that is supposed to take all the clutter off the TV screen. It also highlights the PlayStation Vita (a portable playstation) that allows you to play away from home and then plug in your Vita and pick up right where you left off.

I remember when the wii was just the coolest thing... I had a lot of fun playing with it, and i personal love the nintendo games. The controls are easy to use, for me.
But im not so sure about the new wii u though. Sure, it LOOKS cool, and its nice to think me and my brother wont fight about screen angles. But i was under the inpression (from the commercials) that you could play two DIFFERENT games on it, using the same console.

I'm not exactly big on this whole augmented reality thing; it just seems excessive. If I can gain enjoyment from the game with just pushing a bunch of buttons, why would I want to bother moving my hands?

I think it's awesome how the Wii U's controllers have different actions. It would make the game more of a challenge and it would be a lot more exciting. My brother would love this.

I think that the whole 3-D image thing is kind of cool. I wonder how that would look realistic, though...and where this gaming technology is going. If we're already making games come into our living room, then how far away are we from immersing players into the games?

In my opinion, my favorite is Nintendo because the buttons are easily accessible when playing any kind of Nintendo game. Playing games with Nintendo are like second nature because you know where the buttons are placed therefore it makes playing the game an easier task on harder levels of the game.

The wii makers had to do something different because their first console was a bust. And it would have been a good idea, except it is not going to be able to compare anything Sony or Microsoft puts out (I am a PlayStation fan). They should just quit. The only reason they are still around is because nintendo wont let anyone else use titles such as Mario or Zelda.

I think its cool how playstations new ps vita is basically letting you move around with your gaming, and continue finishing your game on the main console

I honestly think that the new invention of the Wii U is pretty amazing because having a touch-screen can add more excitement to the game itself.

I am ready for the next-gen consoles (Xbox One, PS4) but the WII U is striving for video games that relaate to movements rather than a remote.(Kade B.)
Games in Super HD with over 1080p sound crazy, it would be incredible for consoles to be able to run games like that.

I don't know about the Wii U or the PS3, but I do like the Xbox 360. Even though I'm not a big video gamer I do play COD often on the 360. It's easy to use.

I don't think 3D gaming will catch on very well with the gaming community. Serious gamers spend hours in front of their screens and wearing 3D glasses while doing it will cause severe straining on the eyes.
I it would be great if microsoft succeded in making its game consoles 3D because then playing the XBox would be even better.

i Like The new thing on wii and not only wii but the playstaions and xbox but i believe there getting to outrageous.
I think the PS Vita is very cool, because when your playing a game and then you have to leave but your in the middle of a level that you have been stuck on for a while. It's frustrating to have to just leave, but with the vita you can take it from the main console to on the go on the vita to continue it without starting over.

I tought the Two-Screen Consels was really, because you can leave and play with another device, then come back and continue playing with the game concel. (Sorry if I messed it up I'm not very good when it comes to understanding technology.)

i think the Wii U is awesome! it has more graphcs and looks more realistic. its better than pushing buttons, all you have to do is touch the screen, which i find is incredible!

I actually think that the Wii U's controllers is a really cool idea how you can play away from home and it will start off wherever you left off the last time. They are making it to where you can play two games a once. You know how cool that would be then you would have kids fighting over the games.

Ok so I really like the idea of the Wii U controller having a screen on it is really cool. The fact that you can continue a game on the remote and have something completely different on the big monitor is really convenient. Not gonna lie, it'd be pretty sweet to watch tv while playing mario kart.

4K HD Does exist, as it was showed off at CES. But I highly doubt Any console of this time (Including XB1 and PS4) could handle that many pixels. A Heavily Upgraded PC would be the way to go, becuase #pcmasterrace

They talk about some two screen concept sounds interseting to try it out wiht multiple things and bring it around the place even with a app on a smartphone but it sounds like the screens are going to be new so it might not be as responisve as you might think it is or freeze up like most new intergration of technology advancements

In all my honest opinion, the Playstation is by far one of the greatest gaming consoles ever made, especially now that they have invented the PS Vita. I think that the PS Vita is a great innovation because now, gamers can play from their Playstaion 3 console and take thier gameplay mobile with the PS Vita and continue thier gaming experience. In my opinion this is great becuase now you can still play whatever game and whatever level you were on with a mobile device wherever you are.

In my opinion, I like the Wii U and how its made. My dad watches alot of tv so whenever he needs the t.v. I can easily just swap it to my mobile device with no hastle. To me, that is very interesting and cool.

The WiiU is really underrated, too. Its got as much Horsepower as the PS3 and 360. People just don't take it seriously becuase its nintendo, which is stupid. I don't care what people say, I'd rather be playing the Legend of Zelda than Call of duty. Well maybe the WiiU isn't as strong as the new PS4 and Xbone, but it makes up for it through its innovative and intuitive design (and cheap price.) I mean 2 Screens? That's whats good.

I think that the Wii U as far as technology goes is very advanced because of the new multiplayer outlook it gives players and the way that it is pretty much completely portable which will greatly benefit the player.

that is really cool that they had invented the Wii U because you can play in the tv from the original Wii and when you want you can take it to ur room and play from the Wii U and move around with it. its like the world is going wireless.

I remember when the wii first came out aand i told my mom i didnt want anything else for christmas but instead i got a X box 360 and i absolutely love it!!! The x box systems are amazing to me and that is what i spend all my free time on learning new updates and playing games or hangin out on x box live because the X BOX 360 RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A 3D console seems really cool. That way you can really get into the game and it'll seem more realistic. That will be huge for those who are big fans of Capcom and SquareEnix fantasy-type games like Final Fantasy, because that way we can really feel like we're in a different world. I hope the 3D system follows through and supports good games other than just first person shooters.

Even though I play the xbox 360, the seperate kinect extension is one the bad things that came from microsoft yet. I mean yes its their way of taking the motion dectection from nintendo`s wii, but its unresponse at times and doesnt pick up your motions on certain games.

Its very interesting that now they are chainging the the controls and adding more screens but i belive it takes someone who is really into all that stuff to really get excited about it. to me i like the "old fashion" things.. so i wouldnt try to spend money on the new stuff. sounds nice but nah, not foe me...

I haven't personally played on the Wii U or PS Vita, but the Wii U looks like a Leap Frog kid's toy to me and neither of them seem to have any interesting games. The consoles and their styles just irritate me. I'd much rather stick to the original Wii or PS3 and its earlier generations because I prefer their content, graphics, consoles/ controlers and design way more than these new consoles. In fact, the only thing I find even slightly interesting about these consoles is the idea of augmented reality, but just having that one advantage isn't enough for me.

Concerning the projection of 3-D images onto walls: it seems to me that such an advancement will only further in a Fahrenheit 451-like society, based around an ADHD-oriented attitude and limiting of already-short attention spans. Simply, innovations such as this are totally unnecessary and only distract from the real world.

i think that the concept of them is great being able to play your game on the main system then switch over to a hand held however
if your console has to be connected at all times I'm screwed i dont have the money for that also the my tv doesnt have the pixels to handle the system at this rate I'll have to get a new tv every time they make a console
