Discussion 5 - 10/5/2008

Hi Folks! Thanks for logging in!

This week I want you to take a look at some new technology and it's innovative design. There is some massively cool stuff in this article:

http://tinyurl.com/26lal7

For your blog, please comment on any of the featured items.

I personally am gonna have that message toaster. Can't you just see it? "Honey, please pick up milk on the way home." Written on your TOAST! With your breakfast! Insanely cool.

Which begs the question . . . will you remember things that have been written down once you eat them?

Talk to me . . .

First of all: I'm the first one awesome *dances*
Second is that Vaio Zoom laptop. Can I say wow. Its like the wave pf the future. I just read about t and I already love it.

Cole,R-1 said...

Okay, pretty much all of those things are cool but the three that stuck out to me were,

iRing, The Visual Desktop Charger, and Vaio Zoom

The iRing would be something i would use, no need to get your ipod out of your pocket just touch the ring that's already on your hand, instead of having to dig in your pocket to change your song.

The Visual Desktop just looks pretty cool, and why not make charging something a little more entertaining.

Now i would love to have the Vaio Zoom if it ever gets manufactured as long as it has the Specs to match, it just looks really cool.

anyway those were just my favorite picks out of the list

och,s-4 said...

These are really cool ideas. I like seeing what new and sometimes strange things they are coming up with. The iPod ring? I can't imagine wearing a ring that controls the music you are listening to. And the Vaio Zoom is such a pretty computer. I would love to have one of those. I'm not sure how I feel about the underwater car. It would be pretty cool, but I don't see how it could be possible...and what if you went 34 feet under water? I guess they would need to make an underwater GPS system of something so that you could find your way to a place to drive out of the water...it would be really scary to be stuck underwater.

Well i really liked the Sony Apple Remote Control.I like the whole interior of the technology project, and i also liked the IRing. It's amazing of how much different technology things we can learn.

One word, "totalyawsomebutsomearenotgoingtohappenbutstillawsome"

Rigsby,D-1 said...

Really i dont like some of the things. Are is it i dont care about some of them. But i do like the keyboard it look very nice to all the gamers.

arriola,brett-1 said...

all that stuff looks really cool but the one i like the most is the iring because i would use that alot being able to change songs without having to even touch teh ipod. but all this stuff looks amazing.

Calderon,A-1 said...

Those are good items but some are not that good. I think some will be the next generation for technology, because they are getting better on everything. i think that the laser keyboard is not that good because you can mess it up really quickly (i think). but like that remote control that is so cool, is going to be interactive so you can watch TV and also have fun at the same time. it really take alot of time to design it and they came out with those great ideas. i hope that we can get some pretty soon.

Tri-Edge said...

If I could only have 3 of these devices I would have to get the Optimus Maximus Keyboard because I could have a button that gets me to the internet and a button to get me playing Starcraft :)

Eclipse Partitioning System because it looks cool.

and the sQuba car so I can "drive" to my under sea base that I will one day own

murillo, j - 1 said...

The dual music player is a portable solution that supports both Cds and flash memory and you can copy music on to the USB and let the player do the rest of the work. And the keyboard is a input device that lets you type all kinds of numbers and letters.

Tri-Edge said...

i'm also getting that toaster :)

Ashley Manis said...

Holy cow!
I want one of everything on there. I'm not so much into the keyboards, but the nonobject behind the scenes camera is AWESOME!!! I would love to buy one of those. :D
And that desktop charger is something else. Instead of having to plug your phone in, all you have to do is set it down. How sweet is that? Way sweet.
I'm not so hot on the car. I would be affraid that something would happen and I would drown. I'm sure that its not going to be ready for release for years anyways. xD

Broadway,M-1 said...

It innovative, cool, kind of odd.
But this technology kind of on the line of cazy. But it what the people want and I buy it because it looks cool and their probly designing some far out what you it thing.

Gilbreath,J-1 said...

Oookkk...

Message Toaster, useless.
Remote control in the form of a ball, useless.
Duofone, useless.
Visual Desktop Charger, useless.

Basically, most of this stuff looked absolutely useless. However, the Laser Keyboard, and the Optimus keyboards looked rather innovative. Why click on Firefox when you can just press a button instead?

Ah yes, the iRing...iPod, iPhone, iRing, and the next thing is what? iParrot? iBomb? iPull? This 'i' series is getting ridiculous...

martines,j-1 said...

i think that some of these things are preaty cool, but if i could only get one i would get the squba car. you could be in land in one moment and then dive under water the next

rodriguez,stephen-1 said...

im likeing the toaster messager is really cool! I'm going to used it when i need to remember a homework problem or something i need to bring for school. Everyone has they're methods for remembering. Now i can remember wat i ate and it'll help me memrize too:)
I wonder if it would work on toaster strudel?

lathan,l-1 said...

It's cool to see knew things be made because I have a mp4. I like the stuff was made everything they are coming up with looks like its going to be use for time and time again. over the past years I see things being desighn and people arte getting them. it's cool just to see what they come up with.

I would want to get the iRing, the remote, cause I like the color green and just to show off when someone comes over, idk about the car, I would like to get it but I would not go under water with it. But I loved it all.

allensworth, z-2 said...

the nonobject thing quiped my interest more than anything.......the idea of recording behind you and in front with the same camera is pretty neat..........but i also have to ask why? there is absolutley no point to it......it would be rediculously confusing to watch them both at the same time and why would you want to the only real point i see in this is to profit the maker, and annoy anyone that uses it

reed, k - 2 said...

I think all these things are pretty neat and I bet are expensive makes me want to start on my chrismas list. The thing I was the most intested in was the Vaio Zoom notebook I think it is the neatest notebook I've ever seen because it is touchscreen and the size of it and I like the color.

I'm just going to work my way down with opinions.

I can live with a regular remote, no need for one to make me move myself around. The whole point of a remote is so you don't have to move...

The keyboard is one of the few things on here that I would actually buy. Different key arrangements can be useful when you do more than just surf the interent. It would make life easier. I think I'll check this one out in January.

The behind-the-scenes camera would be cool but I don't use cameras much and would have no use for it. Plus it would probably be boring when I used it.

The Duofone is one of the top dumbest things on here. Why the heck would someone want to watch a video on a house phone?!?!?! Especially if you can afford that, you could probably affor a new 83 inch plasma or somethin... spend the money elsewhere than this phone.

I eat food. I don't read it. That's all I have to say about that.

The dual music player is also interesting. The only problem is that CDs are going out of style. MP3 and higher are taking over and are not going to let up. If you're one of the people still clinging, this is for you.

The Vaio Zoom is a beautiful computer. But that's about it. I can't imagine the insides being as good as the outside for a reasonable price. I would rather have a high-performance laptop(which I do) than a pretty one that can't do much.

The desktop charger is something I have seen before but in a different version. It looks as though this one is closer to production though. The price will be steep at first, but I feel that these will become more and more common in the near future.

The laser keyboard... what to say about that... It's an idea, but I can't see it working perfectly. It would be awesome, but wouldn't it be the most frustrating thing in the world for you to be trying to press a button and it wasn't registrating.

The case for the Personal Theater would not be useful unless you had something that big to put into it.

The desk is the future of desk jobs. I still think a desk job in a pod instead of a cubicle would be just as boring, but atleast it would be colorful and stuff. Ha

The wallet picture frame would be a nice thing to have. But not very useful and I'd probably break it.

I think I would rather have a watch that could tell me who was calling or what song was being played than a ring. But it's a very interesting idea.

I like Stick-it-notes the way they are...

The car will be a billion-gazillion dollars... and it probably wouldn't be earth-friendly haha. but I want one

Mrs. L better get me that car for Christmas...

Dietrich,R-3 said...

That stuff is cool. Like the toast messenger and the Iring and also the car that can go underwater... cool. also the bird bath what ever thing is a good idea and it looks cool too... like everything else. and the laptop is the wave of the future along with the laser key board... cool... blargin cool.

Hernandez, Ruben 3rd said...

wow this technology is so awesome the vaio zoom is awesome i think that is a great a thing. the scuba diving car its so awesome i just cant wait till is out

Patton,A-1 said...

the iRing is so cool.but i like the dual music player because you can play cds and mp3.that is awesome.the toster message is cool to.i would like to write messages on my toast.but then i would eat the message i wrote.oh well ists still cool

anderson,p-3 said...

i like the iRing and the car that goes underwatrer but i really dont see the point of the toast messanger because your going to get the toast anyway. i like the car but how do you tell when your getting to deep.

robles,l-3 said...

i was thinking why do you need a toster that prints out a message but then i thought that it was preaty cool. the sony apple remote is cool but what if one day you get home and your tierd and you want to watch TV i would perfer to use my old remote. the dual music player is realy cool. it is one of the few technology that i would buy. i think all of this is preaty awesome but expensive.

Gonzalez, C-1 said...

I'm sorry but...some of this is absolutely pointless and retarted. I serious, it absolutely serves no point and function. They are making it to where technology basically dominates are life, every aspect of it. I don't understand how we take pride in something so small and annoying. The basic function of technology was to make life more effecient, more time conservative, now it just basically makes everything more easier. Eventually we will lose the very definition of hard labor and sweat and we will be fat, living on a sofa, and having a flippin droid do everything for us, to even the most basic of needs, like moving. It seems entertaining at the ideas of some of this and some of them would probably serve some value in function but it wont do us much good if everyone can't get it like the submarine car and it can't even go that deep underwater. I'm absolutely against most of this.

Campbell,A-4 said...

I think the coolest gadget is the Holographic Laptop ( AKA Viao Zoom ) that is the ultimate in awsomeness and the whole sony "apple" thing is pretty cool. I also like that circle desk thing. I can't wait till this suff goes mainstream.

borerw-4 said...

some of the new technology is very cool and could help with every day life, but there are some that i just don't understand the purpose for. like the toast messanger, it might be fun but whats it for,the iring i don't understand.

edwards, a - 4 said...

Ooooh, I want the Vaio Zoom! It's my favourite one so far because I like touchscreens. Even if it's the most ludacrous one on here, I really like the Apple Remote Control too.

Campbell,A-4 said...

ARE MY FAVORITES!
i've always wanted to be able to change my keyboard up a bit and theese are just to friggin cool!
the toaster messenger is also great i would put some crazy stuff on it lol.
EKK! i love love love love the iRing and the duofone if i hadn't lost my ipod i would totaly buy an iRing.
i must have the laser keyboard! i will have one once i get a job haha!
i totally love new tech toys but it makes me sad when they show "ideas" that are freaking AWSOME but never come out *cries*

Abdul-786 said...

all these technolgies are pretty cool, they are probably goona help the next generation of people and the best one i like is the apple ring and the laser keyboard.

Byrd,N-6 said...

SO the scuba car is pretty much awsome. I mean who wouldnt want to just be driving on the beach and say hey id like to go into the water, and then they dont even have to get out of their car, they can just drive right in!

taylor, Q - 6 said...

all of these new things are way past cool i would so love to have all of them, but my favorite is the via zoom...its very pretty and i love touch screen...some are a little out of control though...a person can go bankrupt if they were a technology freak and buys everything that comes out

wallace,c-6 said...

that freakin i ring was pretty dang sweet, n the keyboard too i guess. im ready to see something rediculously crazy though. i know i could never think of nething like some of the things i saw, but im ready to see something beyond all of that. idk, it was all cool though

Meredith,B-6 said...

wow id have to say most of this stuff is really cool like the iring, the bluetooth virtual keyboard is cool, and the Vaio Zoom laptop thats like see through thats pretty sweet. but some of that stuff is kinda goofy like the apple remote thing is kinda dumb and the camera that see both ways like its cool but kinda like ok whats the point of this.....all i know is im so getting that iring.

Sauceda, Maria=]- 6 said...

WOW!!..some of this technology is actually kind of cool and some is weird!.. My favorite is the dual player. It can play cd and music you have saved. Its been a long time since i burned a music cd. The toaster is awesome..jaja you can write messages in people's breakfasts.

Bixler,T-6 said...

I think that is some really wierd things that people invent. I think some things have its down fall but they have there goods. I really like the mp3 player and the blooth ring and the flash keyboard.

Cuarenta,A-6 said...

i guess if i could afford or if i had to choose which one of those new gadgets i wanted, i would choose the dual music player because i could store the music i wanted but i could still listen to my favorite CDs! ♥☺♥☺♥☺♥☺♥

Copeland, Juston7 said...

i think that making the dual music player was a great idea because lots of people have CDs and when they went to mp3 then people had to put songs on the computer then to the mp3 but know it can play both which takes away some of the hassle but then i dont like the idea about how the CD is going to be held while trying to listen

Morgan,R-7 said...

WOW.... i was feeling alike jealousy of those lol well those are so COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if i write the board on the top of toaster then i would drawing as sign language (sign of i love you) to my mom!!! that sound to be sweet!!!! oh well they are so intresting i never seen those before whoa..... now i really intresting in them!!!!! if i have some of those i would be loved it!!!! =)

lee, s - 7 said...

everybody want it to buy in the futrue. you will buy and anything in the futrue. This cost is lots of money in this year. You will save money and work hard this year. Why are everybody buy this anything? Everybody like new office, Car, CD, or other.

cano,ruben-7 said...

This are all great inventions and sweet technology!!
The i-ring is something i would use, I mean when you are working-out or running theres no need to get your i-pod out of your pocket, you just need the ring..haha..

Trikosko, M-1 said...

Some of those are realy cool, but the ones that already exist are very expenisive. I'm going to wait sevral years until the price goes down before I buy something like this, like the keyboard. I would love that keyboard but it costs too much ;_;.

Lopez, M-1~☺ said...

Wow, amazing to some of the things on there. I'd never have thought for a moment that these would even be ever made in this life time. Possibly even in the next. It's pretty awesome that they are starting to create items like Optimus Tactus, I'd so want one of them. As well as that Duofone too.

Julia' said...

Personally i think all of these are pretty cool! I have a feeling that we will be owning the toast messenger sooner or later.
Some of these are pretty useless though. I don't really see any need for the camera to look behind you. The music player is somewhat of a cool idea, but cd's are slowly 'disappearing'. You more than likely would end up have 'technical difficulites' with the laser virtual keyboard...not such a good idea. The photoskin frame as well doesn't seem to rank that high on my list. Again, pointless..get an iPhone. The iRing is pretty cool so that you won't have to search for your iPod in your backpack or pocket to change the song or anything. The whole i(insert new invention here) thing is kind of getting a little carried away with. I don't even get the whole Pock-It deal either. It's kind of odd to me. The car..that's pretty awesome. It's a new reality version of James Bond.

that's my opinon, thought i'd share. :) :) julio!

I can see how some would love the iring --I agree with others about the car being cool but I also would be afraid something might fail and I would drown --do not like my head below wter! The apples might look cool but I would have to go back and read to see if they would work with all of the electronic features already in the home --most people already have two remotes just to do the cable box and TV -- would be great for those who constantly cannot find the remote.

Maness, J-6 said...

some of the technology on that site it a little ridiculous. All the stuff we have today is really impressive, but we are really shooting for the stars according to the items on the site. I especially like that the iRing is immediately followed up by a item which is essentially a sticky note that is sticky on three sides.

mcgown,a-1 said...

These were all really awesome items, but at the top of my list is the vaio zoom lap top. Of all the other item shown I would have to say that it is the only one that I could really see myself buying. If I just had to buy one of the other items it would probably have to be the sony, apple shaped remote.

brittain,w-2 said...

the ones that i like the most were probably the Vaio Zoom, Eclipse Partitioning system, and the iRing

the Vaio Zoom would be cool because when ur not using it it would go transparent probably causing it to use less power

the Eclipse Partitioning system would be unique for me so no one could bother me when im on my laptop

and the iRing (like Ray said) would be useful to change songs on my ipod

villanueva, manuel, N. 1 said...

well there are really only two things that I liked and there were the Vaio Zoom laptop and the visual desktop charger, and for the rest, i didnt have much interest in it.

Johnson,O-2 said...

Okay Mom LISTEN UP!!!!! This Is What I Want For Christmas:
Duofone
Dual Music Player
Vaio Zoom
Bluetooth Laser Virtual Keyboard
Hi-Tech Office: Eclipse Partitioning System (so it can match with all my outfits)
iRing
Pock-It
Bonus: “sQuba” Diving Car < really I want that now
Those are my demands and until I get these items I am holding a bunny hostage!!!!
I SWEAR I'LL SHOOT IT
DON'T MAKE ME!!!

P.S.Gilbreath,J-1
Did you know that they have a iDog and iCat. I do believe that they do in fact have an iParrot.

Kellerman,R-3 said...

First off, all of those things are pretty cool. But i would have to choose the desktop charger as the coolest. Just put your phone or something on it, charges, and lights up and lets you know what the charge status is. It would help people know how long they have left of charge if they have to leave in a hurry. Plus it would just look cool sitting on your desk.

edlin said...

Wow!
I think that the dual player is awsome i think that kind of technology is great I just read about it and I alreay want it.Because that way you dont have to waste time in closing and opening a CD player all the time.

Auxier, Emily - 4 said...

My favorite thing is the iRing! that would make working out so much easier! I would most definately ask my daddy to buy me one of those! The office thing was pretty neat as well. Then I wouldnt have to worry about austin reaching over and messing
"+203" (like he just did....HELP ME MRES L!) up my notes.

Brice, R-4 said...

Most of this technology seems pretty innovative but most of it, to me anyway, is useless.
Most of the things that are listed I already have but they just aren't as up to date or as sophisticated I suppose. But that dosent matter to me as long as it works I'm good. The only thing I would consider getting is the iring because I like listening to music alot but I would have to see the price tag on it first

GARRETT,K-4 said...

all of the items are interesting to me but the one thing that seemed the best to me would be the iring. i think thats the only thing that i would use. im not really into all the technical stuff but it seems interesting.

ferrell, a-4 said...

man i love eating food with other things drawn on it. like those cookies you get from walmart with like a little bat on it in icing for halloween. so for me i'd be the toster. i would be sitting there drawing all types of things, just encouraging them to eat the toast (that might even have a fried egg on the underside, followed by another piece of toast) by drawing a glass of water on it or drawing like a frozen banana, so they're like "No, I don't want a frozen banana, but i would like a regular banana later" and i have time to come back and eat my sandwich later. or you could just type like jokes, so when someones eating it they're just having a good ol' time laughing and enjoying some toast. or you chould like make a map for someone to find something cool like on christmas day and they're like "wheres my toast" and then your like well let me go make some toast. and you draw a really complicated map to the present hiding behind their own chair, which also whould create humor. so it would just be funny, I'M BRIAN FELLOWS!

arnold.t,7 said...

will those things were cool to me...i would like to have those thing to my house but i really do like the iring because u dont have to reach in your pocket to get it....then you can touch the ring.

Liles, T-1 said...

Although some of these items are really cool, and some seem science fiction sometimes, i kind of think a lot of them are a waist, the only plausable use or convienience they hold in our lives is that they are cool to have. But as far as making our lives more convienient or easier, they are useless.

But i have to give the inventors props, cuz some of them are really cool!

Hollingsworth,C-1 said...

The Yanko Design website has many interesting what-nots. A street lamp that recycles used batterys to light the dark streets instead of pollution the enviroment. And a smart lock for bicycles that explodes purple ink on to the thief(for the cops to find him later) Its not as amazing a a message toster but it is still pretty cool! I would totally buy one of those locks for my bike...

packard,a-2 said...

i want the scuba diving car!!! i want to be a zoologist so i could drive to the ocean and then IN the ocean!!!!!!!!!! and i want the toaster cuz you kill 2 birds with one stone, a message and a tasty snack. and i want the apple remote it's like a wii for your tv.!!! and last i want the mp3/cd player cuz i have both and i like to use both and this takes up alot less room than a giant stereo.

I like the toaster thingy but I really doubt if I ate toast that I would remeber what it said. I would be so caught up int he fact that the toast had words on it, than to actually realize what it said.
anyway - the only thing that I thought was really kinda lame was the Desktop Charger because of the light. I tend to charge things every night while i'm asleep, and the light would be on all night. Then i would get irratated, and go unplug it only to wake up and be mad because whatever was charging, isn't charged.
