Continuing the Fitness Technology topic . . .
I think it's fun to talk about fitness technology, because of my aforementioned inner athlete who is struggling to get out. I'm sure some of you are over it already. Hopefully we'll hit a technology topic at some point that will peak your interest.
Hey . . . here's a question: Do you think all this technology makes us better at exercising? For me, it's makes me more EFFICIENT, but at the end of the day (don't you hate that term?) it's all about moving more and eating less. And no amount of technology in the world will make that happen if I choose to be a slug and sit in the corner of my couch eating like there's no tomorrow and watching Real Housewives reruns.
Not that I would ever do that . . .
So here are your sites for this week with up and coming exerice technology. For credit this week, you will have to do TWO things: 1) tell me your opinion about technology in exercise. Is it making us more fit and healthy? and 2) pick a product on one of the following pages (remember to tell us which one) that you would use and talk about it intelligently. Tell us how you would use it. Tell us why it's a great idea. Tell us why it's goofy. Tell us some facts about the product.
As always, read Tuesday blog Thursday. If you can't answer BOTH of my questions I can't possibly give you credit this week. Always READ MY WORDS and follow the instructions.
Talk to me . . .

I think technology is definitly making excercising healthier. For the people that love technology the best way to get motivated is by using technology while excercising. The product that I chose is Jawbone Up, it tracks how many steps you take, the distance you walk/run, and how long you sleep. I think it's cool how it does not even look like a gadget, it is slim and flexible, giving it more of a bracelet type look.

i think that technology in exercise is convenient because it allows you to keep track of your progress, but i don't think it has anything to do with how much work you do, i think that that's totally up to yourself. the exercise equipment that i chose this week was the fitbit ultra because its relatively cheap and very wearable...and stylish!

I think that using technology when you excersize is a good idea because it helps to motivate you. I think that the nike+ fuelband is a good idea for some people, but it would drive me insane because I can't stand to wear loose jewelry when I run.

I think technology is great for exercise, it really makes keeping track more efficient. I really like the Nike+Fuelband, I think it's really neat how it keeps track
of your activity by means of a triaxial accelerometer, and uses an array of embedded LEDs to help you switch functions and navigate menus. If I did run, I would use it to keep track of different run times.I really like the look of the bad and the LEDs on it to let you know you're changing functions.
The Fuelband has survived showers, heavy rain, and dog washing.

I think that technology for exercise is great since it helps you to keep you healty, and tells you how much you have run.The product i chose was the Jawbone Up is doesnt really look like a gadget, and it keeps data of what all you have done.
I like the MotoACTV because it can play music and send text messages. And, I also like that it tracks how many calories are burned while you are working out. I would use it when I wanted to go for a run.

I think that technology today is definately a big factor in healthy eating and exercise and is making things a lot more efficient. The item I chose is the The Jawbone up because it is a bracelet that stays charged up and tracks all of your movement. It carries a higher USB charge and is an awsome tool.

I choose the fitbit product. It clips onto your clothes and tracks your daily activities by recording how many steps you take, how many calories you burn, etc. Technology doesn't make us fit or health on its own. We have to get up off our butts and move. The tech just makes it easier.
I think technology in exercise is making people more healthy and fit. I chose the Electric Foxy Move. For some people like myself, don't like running, jogging, lifting, or anything in that category. This goes best for something like Yoga. Its a shirt that send vibration feedback by the way of your posture.

I think technology doesnt make us any more healthy or fit. But, it definately does help! It helps keep things organized and on a schedule. I like the Nike+ Fuelband because it looks really cool and you only wear it on your wrist. Plus, It keeps track of your activity by means of a triaxial accelerometer, and uses an array of embedded LEDs to help you switch functions and navigate menus.
My opinion about technology in exercise is that yeah it makes everything easier like calculating the distance or even checking your heart rate. talking about measuring heart rates the Nike Fuel band is great in my opinion, it has the ability to read and track your heart rate as well as distances.

I think that technology does make us more fit and healthier because it can keep track of how much you are excercising. With technology you can set yourself a goal and reach it. The product that i chose is Jawbone’s Up, it tracks your steps, and also how long you sleep. Its looks more like a arm bracelet than a big piece of technology clinging to your body.

I think that technology is a double edged sword. It both benifits when collecting data and inpoving productivity and renders us vary lazy.
The idea of the nike fuelband is a good idea to keep people active but it need more workl and calabration to make it work more productivly.

technology is improving more and more each day. its a good idea that they are improving tech.for exercise. i like the motoACTV. because you can exercise all the time you need and while you may be running you can listen to music.
I like the Jawbone Up, It's flexible and plus, it has plenty sensor technology, and it makes workout easier. What I love about it, is that it has a vibrating alarm to wake you up... I need that haha.

I think technology today for excercise is helping us be more fit because its giving us something to do while were inside other than sitting on the couch with my cheetos watching vampire diaries. (not me (; lol ) The product I chose was the power plate because it helps lose cellulite while doing basically nothing. And i like that (;

I agree that technology makes excercise more efficent to and extent. I think that being that you can monitor your exercise to the very smallest amount. The product I chose was the Valencell PerformTek. Most people use music to pump them through a workout ,so it would be an easy transition for it to also measure all of the things that you would need to help you.

I believe exercise technology helps because of the mental thought of it working, its works. Its basically psychology. An example: Nike+ Fuelband.

I think technology is helping us become more healthy. Alot of the things we do now is revolved around technology anyways so it could make exercising fun. I like the Motorola’s ACTV because its bascially like a smart phone thats keeps track of your heart rate and activity level. You could listen to music, text, check the weather and exercise all at the same!

i liked the Nike Fuelband, i think its very intelligent. it keeps track of things you need. The way i could use this is by including this invention in my cardiacle excersice, this is a great idea because the user now has the option of tracking his or her moves in any given time period,i dont believe its goofy.

Technology doesn't make anyone more "healier/active" You can sit there with any device and not benefit anything. Unless you have the power plate, that helps you lose cellulite by doing nothing! cool! in contrast, how realistic is it to lose something by doing nothing? goofy. But, technology may motivate you (music) or calculate what you have to do to get to a certain destination.
I like the motoActv because is cool and you can listen to your favorite music and you can used it when your doing excersice.

I think that any of those make excercising healthier. i mean running is running if you run during 1 hours with or with technology you just ran 1 hours after it s sure that it s really nice to know what we did, make you glad if i had to pick one maybe the motoActv you can see exactly what you did and run in music

I believe that technology in exercise is helping humanity. We are now able to keep track of all our daily activities. A good example of fitness technology is the Nike Fuel Band. It is able to track clip on like a braclet and track your activities. The only disadvantage is it's somewhat inconsistant.

I think technology does help people with their fitness. Now I'm not trying to say that it helps people loose weight but I do think it helps people who are trying to be more efficient and trying to get all they can out of a work out. So thats why I think that the ElectricFoxy Move shirt thingy could be a very practicle item to have if your more of those people who want to get as much as they can out of a workout. The shirts cool cause it has sensors in it that vibrate when your body is in the wrong posture. I cant tell you how many times my coach has yelled at me during drylands because I am doing my workouts wrong. Something she always says "It doesnt matter how many you do. Its the quality of what you are doing that is going to make you stronger" which is true! So a shirt that will help you do the excersize wrong seems like it would be a brilliant idea!

technology in excercise? yea i would say it is making us get slighty better in gettin us to becoming a more fit person... on http://www.digitaltrends.com/lifestyle/best-fitness-gadgets/
the MotoACTV is like a watch that looks like an ipod nano and it also does pretty much the same things but this watch can let you know how many calories you burnt and how long you ran. i would use it to text at school more than anything since is like a watch and i would not get caught

I think technology is making society healthier because we can do so much before than before exercise technology came out. I like the motoActv because it is a watch as well as many other testing devices. It will let you listen to music and track your workout progress. I think that it is a super cool thing. I also like the fact that it is really cool looking.

i believe technology is helping us become more fit and healthy but it really comes down to how much work we want to put into being fit that matters. i would use the valencell perform tek, but only to listen to music and maybe show it off if im around people that like to excersise because i don't like to at all.

I like the Valencell PerformTek
it would probably help me get ready for a work out with all my favorite music play as I work out. Yes, it is making people more fit and healthy.

I think technology is definitely beneficial for those who are WILLING to use it to their benefit. It could most certainly be of help to keep people in shape. The gadget I pick is the Nike+ Fuelband. For one, it uses LED's to navigate through its menus and it is a wrist band instead of a clip one that could possibly fall off. You can even set goals that you want to meant and get Nike Fuel points for activities you do.
I thin kthat techonlogy does ghelp us with our health.
I think the Casio G-Shock is interesting because
syncs with an iPhone to deliver email, call alerts.

Excellent point Grayson! Technology has made us lazier in some ways, I agree.
i think technology with excercising is a great thing. it helps when youre just trying to keep track or getting motivated. i like the nike+ fuelbelt mainly because you get to wear it around your wrist and not on you clothing. it gives detailed feed back on your activity and lets you set goals.

I think that technology in fitness is helping us cheat when it comes to health and fitness. All it does is make it quicker for us to build muscle or burn fat even if it may not make your entire body stronger or be as healthy as it says it is. Basicly all these advancements have blinded alot of people to where they dont know what real fitness is.
I like the Valencell Perfork Tak cause it lets people keep track of what they need to health wise and it is done in a way you dont look stupi or become uncomfortable.
Tyler Johnston, 7th
Oh Hailey! If only!
Miranda I agree with Coach about the quality of your posture / workouts being the most important thing. Take swimming for instance. Whereas you look like a gazelle gently gliding through the water, I look like I'm just trying not to drown. See? Posture! LOL
Marisol Alvarado- 7th I think that technology isn't nesessarily making us more fit and healthy, like you said, I think it's just making us more efficient. Take the MotoACTV for example,(the product I chose) it can track your location and keep tabs on your heart rate and activity level. It uses a built-in GPS to determine the distance traveled during runs or bike rides, and sensors to measure the calories burned during any workout. This watch can do so much to HELP us become healthier, but it can't MAKE us. You can set up a bunch of alarms on your special workout watch to remind you to go run, but that doesn't mean you can't just ignore those alarms and go eat a burger instead. I do think that technology is HELPING us, but I don't think it's MAKING us more fit and healthy. I chose the MotoACTV because it's small, portable, and can do so many little yet cool things like
store and play MP3′s, send text messages, check for weather updates, and the other cool things I mentioned before. I would definitally use this when I go ruuning in my neighborhood.

The technology in this exercise is trying to make us more fit because it is trying to use cool technology to get more poeple to workout. Valencell PerformTek

I think technology in exercise is something really good, because it helps you a lot by given you information about your health and your progress when you exercise. I really like the Under Armour E39. I think using technology is making exercising much more healthier. It all depends on the person. If your one of those calorie counter freaks and also want to specifically target a number on your distance this would help, but maybe not having to see how much you got done and pushing your body to something a little more farther would be a great way to motivate your self.'Valencell PerformTek' this product draws my attention by the whole fist pumping usage it would have under my control.

1) I think technology in exercise is actually really beneficial since technology helps you know what you need to do more such as doing more cardio. 2) I think the Squid shirt is actually the most useful invention for tracking your efficiency there is. The shirt has no thick bulky sensors you have to lug around and you wouldn't forget where you left your small ipod with nike+.

The Nike fule band is cool because it look like a regular wrist band but it is far more, it keeps track of all your daily activities and lets you set goals. it also lets you share with other people on facebook and nike plus.
