Only 5 wartime technologies are mentioned. There will be a test. READ!

Wednesday Edit
Today I'm asking you to think a little deeper. You will answer these questions to receive credit:

1) Do you find it odd that it's this easy to find information about our future military technology everywhere on the internet?
2) Detail how this could be harmful to us.

The good news is today is an OPINION, which means the only way for you to be wrong is not answering both questions.

I don't really find it that odd that we know about our military's new technology. The public has a right to know this kind of stuff, after all. On the other hand, it COULD become a major burden for other countries to plan against our tech since it's easily accessible on the Internet.

This is exactly what I was thinking when I read the article! Why do we have so much information about our technology on the internet? I think that it's really stupid to do that, since we never know who is watching and the United States has no shortage of enemies. Those who are trying to harm us will know exactly how to stop us because they will be developing weapons based on what they find on the internet. I find it really disturbing that the government is more willing to call "national security" and stop the presses if they mess up, but will let the press spread to the world about how our military is protecting us.

Yes, it is a little odd that we can know so much about the military's technology. It might be harmful to us in the way that someone can try to use their ideas against us. Or the information might get in the wrong hands.

I do find it odd that everyone is able to access this valuable information about our future military technology. The only way this could possibly be harmful to us is for other countries that could be planning a war against us could easily access our weapons on the internet by allowing them to have a basic idea of what our military might be using in the future. Therefore, this would possibly lead them to create the most powerful weapons and bombs than the ones displayed on the internet for the world to see.

1) No its not odd because I feel like us the public has a right to know what our new military technology is.

2) On the other hand this could be harmful to us due to fact its all over the internet; other counties can start to plan against it.

I think it's a very good thing that we know what kind of technology our military is using. After all, our government has been using technology such as drones and cyber-attacks to spy on not just their own civilians, but ordinary civilians in places such as Brazil and Europe. It's important for the common man to be informed of what the government he put into power is doing. Many of the things they are doing are simply unjust and need to be exposed and reported on. And let's be honest, if this information was actually a threat to national security, the federal government would never willingly allow this on the internet. These are all just concepts that our enemies are sure to expect and to prepare for.

I do not think that it is odd that you can find information about our military's weapons on the internet. The reason be is because they probably released it. And I am sure that there are plenty of things that they do not have released or plan to release to the general population. They classify the most important and most useful vehicles and weapons so enemies won't know about it.
I guess it could be harmful to us if someone from another country saw it. But I think if the military didn't want anyone to see it, no one would. So I don't think a few tech weapons that "might" be deployed in Syria is something we should worry about.

I think if you can find so much info online about our future technologies it's likely that over half of it is pure lies, smoke curtains to derail people from looking any deeper. But if any of it is true then terrorists and people who live off selling information to foreign countries are living the life right now.

I don't find it odd, they only tell us the general things about them, they don't go into detail or how they do what they do, or how they make it do that. For that reason, I don't think that it is harmful to us.

I think it's both good yet bad only because, yes it's cool to see what's in store for us, but who knows if there's another mastermind like Osama Bin Laden out there and can use the information to invent another weapon that's far more harmful and destructive' even worse, other countries could invent something that can counter these newly developed weapons.

I think that information about future warfare items is dangerous because future enemys can look at the information and either try to copy it or avoid that technology from being useful, and yes it is interesting that so many military technology's can be found on the internet which doesn't help keep it secret.(Kade 2nd)

Yes, I find it odd because why would they want to put information like that out on the internet where everyone can see. You never know the wrong people can see it when they don't need to and make more of what we are already wanting to make. To me its very dangerous that people that we fight against can see it and make something just like it or even better.

I find it very odd and strange that it is so easy for anyone to find information about the military. Knowing that it is the military people depend on to keep the nation out of harms reach it's a little scary that anyone can find information on our nations military. I do believe this could be very harmful to us. If our country was ever in a crisis to where the solution is war, our enemy could easily look up information about our military and figure out our weakness. I think that information about the military should have limited information only. insight on our military should be taken more than serious.

-Coen, 2nd period

It is very strange that our military allows people to put this kind of information about where the military is headed all around the world. This will be bad for us in the long haul because one country could get our technology and than replace us as the greatest military in the world.

-Irwin, 2nd

No, I don't find it odd that we can simply find this information by going online. It makes me think that our military is confident enough in their tactics that they can't be countered by modern day enemies or that they already have new technology that nearly makes the weapons we see now obsolete, and keep their real super weapons under wraps. So I don't think it would be harmful for us when this information is easily viewable because maintaining a powerful military is one of the few things our government knows how to do.

I think it's pretty ignorant, but then again, some would argue freedom of speech.

Either some media reporters are really dumb, or it's false information, because I don't think Homeland Security and CIA would let this type of information go out. Well, Perhaps it's not detailed enough to be harmful... but whatever. It could be harmful because other countries could see the, and be like "Hey, How can we retaliate and counter this?" But it's HIGHLY unlikely anything will actually happen because of this.

I FEEL THAT IT COULD BE ODD IN SOME CASES BECAUSE YOU WOULDNT WANT EVERYONE IN THE WORLD GETTING ON THE INTERNET AND KNOWING WHAT NEW MILLITARY DEVICES WE HAVE BUILT. YET IT COULD BE VERY HARMFUL IN SOME CASES DUE TO LETTING OTHER COUNTRIES KNOWLEDGE WHAT WE ARE USING FOR MILITARY TECHNOLOGY.

In my honest opinion I do believe that it is odd that we as US citizens can easily look up and find information about our nation's government and military information. I mean is it really that easy for our military to post there new innovations and military actions up for everyone to see? This could be quite the problem if our political enemies ever found out that we have new military technology and our new tactics that we plan to use against them or other potential threats. I mean just picture this: some random terrorists can just go online and see all the technology we are now creating and try to replicate it, enhance it, or even find a way to render that technology useless. So yes, it is odd that we can look up our military's information 24/7 on the internet whenever we want to.

1. no, because we also see others what they are doing and the weapons so I don't think its really that different than us doing it. its also not weird because maybe they put t just to scare the other countries like they have done to us.
2. I guess its bad because others are watching what's happening, but that's very ordinary now and days, because others are doing the same.

I think it is very creepy that we can just get on to Google or whatever other website we desire and learn pretty much anything we want to about or military. The excessive publicity of American and British military plans and technology is potentially very detrimental to our countries because it allows other countries to have a stupid amount of access to our what-should-be-confidential information. That is, unless other countries have already obtained the same technology, at which point the information is fair game.

I thought it was a very bad idea to put our military's valuable weapon information on the internet in places that are so easily infiltrated. It'd absolutely ridiculous how much stuff that's supposed to be "top secret" that you can find on the internet. But not EVERYONE in the military is so stupid. Most likely, these are all things that the military has allowed to be shown, to let the world know that they're advancing. They have to show off SOMEHOW. America likes to be showy and show off all kinds of stuff. If you read carefully you notice how they never really tell any details. It's not just out there for picking. The most likely scenario, in my opinion, is that they simply show off their muscles but never REALLY tell.

1 first off what we see has been released second so they probably have an even more bad *** weapon in the closet somewhere. Even then what they have released doesn't go into its technological readout saying hey we have a new missile which acts like a shotgun from the sky isn't the same as saying this is a missile with this engine this targeting system this frequency controlled that is what compromises a weapon
2 its still probably a bad idea to brag about your new toy though because someone's going to get jealous and out do you.

Most people are pointing out how potentially dangerous it is to share this information on the internet due to the fact that our enemies could take advantage of it, and make the same thing.

An important question to ask, though, when wondering if it is unsafe to put this type of thing on the internet, is "Who are we fighting?"

Had the internet existed when we were fighting the USSR during the Cold War--a global superpower with more than enough resources to copy the U.S.'s military technology--then this technology would most certainly not be accessible on the web. The government would definitely have it under wraps.

But we aren't fighting a global, industrialized superpower these days. We're fighting Islamic extremists in the Middle East, countries that have, for a very long while now, been devoid of order, destroyed by war, and far from modernized. In fact, due to the conservative nature of these theocratic states, they are actually moving away from modernization.

Quite frankly, even if the terrorist groups saw or heard about this stuff on the internet, it is totally unlikely they'd have the resources or technology to recreate it. The U.S. is number one in the world for military spending-- we put billions of dollars towards it yearly-- and it shows. Nobody that currently wishes us harm has the capability to copy us. The 9/11 attacks are evidence of this: they hijacked planes, and flew them into the towers. No bombs, no sophisticated weaponry involved. Basically, terrorism on a budget.

TL;DR: Terrorists don't have enough money or technology to copy our military tech.
