Blog 8 - 10/25/10

Hiya! Thanks for logging in!

I would like to continue our exploration of advancing automotive technology.

Recently I've been seeing a Lexus commercial that highlights their new driving simulator. It's all round and sparkly and stuff, so of course it caught my attention.

When I started looking into this new piece of technology I was surprised to find out what a big deal it is. Big. Dang. Deal. Apparently, what had happened was, Lexus decided they needed to take their simulator to a higher level and actually add some elements that have been missing in previous simulators. Elements like 360-degree views, sideways accelerations, outdoor conditions and driver conditions (what happens if the driver is distracted, sleepy, etc.).

Inside the simulator there's a full size Lexus vehicle on a turntable. So not only is the vehicle moving inside the simulator, but the simulator is moving inside the building that was built for it that's over a football field in length. Sweetness! I would so love to get my hands on one of these.

Does anybody remember that simulator ride at the fair where you get inside thing shaped moderately like a space shuttle, and it has video and it moves up and down and is supposed to make you think you're on a shuttle launch? Yeah . . . it's kinda like that thing but a million times better.

I also found a link to a company in Sweden that's been building simulators since the 70's. It's the last link on today's list and I thought it had some pretty good stuff.

So read the articles for the week. Please, for the love of Pete, DO NOT push play on any video or The Man will be calling me from across town.

To get credit for the week please answer one of the following questions:

1) Where do you see this technology heading?
2) What do you think happens to the simulator if you crash? How do you think they would address that?
3) How do you think this technology is linked to video game technology?

As always, if you'd like credit for this week you'll need to wait to Thursday to answer and you'll need to answer one of the questions. Maybe we can be more successful with that this week.

Talk to me . . .

This sort of technology is almost too high tech for me to wrap my head around. How is the video created or projected, since its a 360 degree angle. It seems like the area of "space" your driving in is infinant. If this simulation were to crash i would think that whatever you crashed into would be as close as possible ,making it as life-like as possible.

wallace, o-1 said...

I think technology is heading in a very futuristic direction.I also think its becoming safer to use because they've built things to test for safety that is accurate.

santoyo, l - 1 said...

What do you think happens to the simulator if you crash? How do you think they would address that?

I don't think your able to crash with the stimulator because it looks like it is in some railroad track looking thing. Besides have you ever heard of a train crashing in to a wall, obviously the answer is no because the rails are built away from things like walls and trees so the train won't crash.

But if you crash an imaginary wall in the stimulation the air bags will probably pop out, some red lights will start blinking, and there will be a voice saying EPIC FAIL!!!!!!

stegall, j - 1 said...

I can see the stimulator heading in a good direction I think that this is great technolgy we can really see how people are really trying to help prevent car disasters in this world..I wouldn't mine having a stimulator in my car when I get one.

The simulator will enhance the person's hand-eye coordination and allow them to drive more safely by practicing the varieties of ways people will control their vehicle without actually crashing. Once they do get the hang of it, they will perform perfectly on the road.

Like video games you will be able to reset the road if you crash and learn how to vividly maneuver through heavy traffic if necessary. With that new understanding of how to drive near steep cliffs without falling and having that courage to move an inch more without tipping the car, people will final rid each other of accidents unless people begin to mess around and act irresponsibe.

How do you think this technology is linked to video game technology?

I think they made this based on a video game, they use the basics of a video game. They had in mind what goes on in a video game except they made this one more realistic. I would love to go in this thing and drive 180 mph just to see what it does! & then crash into it to see what it does, but i think that it will turn pitch black and then in big red letters say "Game Over..." then go into the main menu :)

yancey-z-1 said...

this is just like a video game just your not on the floor in the living room you are in a half car half tv thing i thank it is cool and can realy help...thank of a tv that went all around you... now drive... cool!!!

i'm answering the question of how this technology is linked to video games. i think this technology is linked to video games because it's like a virtual world. like those helmets you put on and your in a different world. i think this will advance video game technology because it hsd more realistic feeling, where you feel like you are driving, but aren't.

baeza, n - 1 said...

Where do you see this technology heading?

I think the stimulater is pretty cool. it coild be the best driving test or test anybody could take ever...
it could help on how people drive help them see what all around them while driving and it would be the safest way of driving.
I WANT TO TRY IT!!!!!!=P

How do you think this technology is linked to video game technology?

I think its a whole lot like a video game it has LIFE like graphics and realistic sounds so in all honesty its just one big video game! I have a problem understanding how it works. Is it projected or is it just a really big tv?

weaver, c - 1 said...

i think this new technology is going to be good for the future. they should use the simulator for driving test, and its a great way to help people drive better..i think its kind of like a video game

blank, d - 2 said...

I like the idea of the simulator, it can make big changes in the driving world. I think that the could also change the videogame industry and movie industry and make the experience more involved.

chitopina-2 said...

Question 1) I that this technology is going to further advance the way driving experiments are. When this technology becomes more available(and cheaper)it might be used for a new driving test that's administered. It simulates the realism of road without actually being dangerous. But i wouldnt mind it coming to the gaming market either, talk about virtual reality!!

vega, u - 2 said...

This is pretty much the video game Forza on steroids. Forza is currently the best racing simulator and requires actual skill to drive well. This simulator also needs skill and provides that missing component for absolute immersion, being in a reas car and being able to see the environment all around yourself. It's amazing how they've accomplished this. Maybe this is another step towards virtual reality.

2) What do you think happens to the simulator if you crash? How do you think they would address that?

3) How do you think this technology is linked to video game technology?

The simulator is alot like a game with out scores or a first place. There is a a screen controls and highly realistic graphics, but would be realy cool if they teamed up with google and use some real life video. Does any one else just wanto to get in this thing and cause the biggest pile up cash ever?

Question 1) Where do you think this technology is going?

I think this is a HUGE advancement in automotive technology. I can really see this becoming a huge impact on reducing car accidents and assuring safety for drivers, and pedestrians on the road. I also wouldn't be surprised if they used this technology in the near future to teach teenagers how to drive without the risk of harming themselves and others.

anderson a-2 said...

The Lexus Simulator is like the 3D versions of modern movies. It seems kool for adults but for teenagers it would be a total disaster. speeding, running over virtual people, crashing in things just for the heck of it, this kinda reminds me of the simpsons hit and run game..... id add virtual police if i were lexus.

and i think the innovative technology of today will eventually lead to the virtual test drives of car(s) you think you might buy. that would be cool to test drive a car with out being on the street. i could do 70 in a 50mph zone not that i do that now (im just sayin)

Miller, J - 2 said...

I think this technology is very effective for testing various situations of distracted drivers without actually having to be in a real car and test it. Like texting or other things people do while driving. This could realy improve driver safety and awairness and prevent crashes. (question 1)

Rodriguez,A-2 said...

in response to question 2) What do you think happens to the simulator if you crash? How do you think they would address that? first i think some kind of visual and sond would come on like a sound imitating an actual wreck then i think the actual simulator would start going crazy like moving..just going crazy.. then im sure they would tell you that you crashed

duguay, n-4 said...

I think it would be fun cause you could race and crash without actually getting hurt cause it's a simulation. 8)
It sounds like a fun video game idea to me lol. Grand theft auto simulation- with 360 degree vision. you can just smell the drugs~
Sounds cool. xD

milo, v 4 said...

Its amazing where technology is heading if this simulator can keep prevent crash related deaths then it would be awesome.
Its pretty much like a video menu when they mess up they can just hit the reset button and try again till they get it right

vargas, k - 4 said...

I'm answering the question about what would happened if you crashed. I think they would tell you that you crashed because i'm sure that the main purpose of the simulator is to give people an actual driving experience and when you're are actually driving, you have crash accidents. It would also be helpful to inform people that they crashed because if someone uses this simulator to improve their driving skills, it would be good to know where you made a mistake so you don't pull that crap on the road and kill yourself or someone else.

bryan, j - 4 said...

best video game ever. i bet it would be fun to get really impaired and then drive in the simulator. any study to for imformation to save lives is a good thing tho

young, j - 4 said...

How do you think this technology is linked to video game technology?

Basically this thing IS a video game. They just took it a kajillion levels higher and made it super life-like. In a video game, you would be put in a situation where you are supposed to drive somewhere safely (obviously). If you happened to mess up, then you would just start over, and i'm assuming that that is what would happen in the simulator. It's like you have to know where you are going and you have to keep practicing it until you can do it flawlessly, which would be necessary in real life. All in all, it could be titled a "useful video game", which is pretty far-fetched.

diverdi, d - 4 said...

well thats cool ha

1) Where do you see this technology heading?
i see this heading to video gaming in the future like u running inside a pod haha and

2) What do you think happens to the simulator if you crash? How do you think they would address that?
if u crash in the pod thingy then theres no joking ur gunna crash they arent playing theres going to be blood everywhere they dont mind cleaning up ur dead body bc they want real result with real peoples lives on the line obviously people arent taking it serious until they get in the thing haha

3) How do you think this technology is linked to video game technology?
Its linked to it by how one day in the future when u wake up ur gunna hop in a pod and start running on an army field thats how its gunna be. once they make this lil puppy into a game probly gunna be pretty cool.

wilson, k - 4 said...

I think the simulator sounds really neat, but I would not want to ride in one. I don't know what would happen if it did crash. It would be a dangerous thing to ride in. A video game like this might be neat, but I would not want to play it.

Where do you see this technology heading?

This technology is going to be very useful later on. It will head to help companies find bugs and problems in their car before putting it on market. No more recalls and accidents due to companies not examining their cars thoroughly. It will save lives.

carrillo, c - 4 said...

I see this technology helping people with stuff and getting to know, and also exploring new stuff. It's also nice to learn new things everyone in a while. This technology is going very far, and is going to keep going until someone is tired of it and stops doing it!!!!!!

madkins, b - 4 said...

Honestly I think the atimulator is pretty cool. It just seems alot like the rollarcoaster stimulator that you have no control over.

It's like a big video game.I'm answering question #3 How do you think this technology is linked to video game technology?

My point is it seems alot like a highly advanced racecar videogame, everybody has played it and it's exactly just like driving a actual car. You have complete control over everything.I understand that this could help with research and that it could end terrible driving but i honestly think that people would just see it as a big game because it just seems like lots of fun.

gutierrez, n - 4 said...

What do you think happens to the simulator if you crash? How do you think they would address that?

i think that you cant crash in the simulator because trains cant crash because they are in the railroad tracks unless theres another simulator...

but if the simulator does crash prabably the air bags would pop out and you would feel like its real...

page, c - 4 said...

I think this technology is heading in a very good way. All this stuff there coming up with is overwhelming! I think all the stuff is becoming safe though cause they have all this stuff to test for safety.

Toth, d - 4 said...

"What do you think happens to the simulator if you crash? How do you think they would address that?"

Well i think that they would make the simulator shut down, shake harshly, or release an airbag, to make it more realistic.
Also have like massive flames surrounding the car with like a vortex of smoke too.

rivera, m - 4 said...

What do you think happens to the simulator if you crash? How do you think they would address that?

I think that your not able to crash with this simulator for the reason that there is no nothing surronding unless you did.

Thompson, C - 5 said...

1) Where do you see this technology heading? I can see instituting this driving simulator into DriversEd so that kids can learn to drive and learn from mistakes without having to be in a real accident. This machine can defiantly improved the overall safety of driving and learning to drive.

2) What do you think happens to the simulator if you crash? I would think that the simulator goes to “game over” mode and stops, so that the scientists can ask the driver what happened. How do you think they would address that? Log it into some database and figure out how to prevent it.

3) How do you think this technology is linked to video game technology? I can see adding the dome tv thing into gaming with the new kennect system to make games literally first person. Imagine exploring a cave with goblins or such in it, or a jedi battle where you’re a jedi fighing a sith lord. Or even your in a boxing match. Forget surround sound, how about surround tv?

ewing, r - 5 said...

I think that this technology is REALLY cool. I'm going to answer the question about video games. I think that eventually, instead of having a Wii or whatever, people can have little virtual reality game chambers where instead of seeing what they do on a screen, have them actually be INSIDE of the game and either be driving their car if it's a racing game, or be playing basketball, football, soccer, or whatever depending on what they were playing. Or even, in lets say, Modern Warfare: Black Ops, you would be able to be in the game running around doing the missions, playing live, driving the little RC car, or whatever.

I think technology is headed in a very postive direction! Its seems to me as if technology is getting safer to use and becoming more avaliable through a bunch of diverse sources. I think it is awesome how much technology has chenged since my grandma and parents were born. It is interesting how much it has changed even since even i've been born!

almeida, m - 5 said...

How do you think this technology is linked to video game technology
i think this is really like a video game becuase is like a real life where you have to keep alive and dont crash. also becuase is has every single element like a video game except that this simulator look more realistic.

curry, b - 5 said...

I see technology like this being used to teach student drivers. When people go to get their licence they have to take a driving test. Instead of putting student drivers, who are more like to get in wrecks and harm people, on the road just put them behind the wheel of this simulator. Technology like this will reach the point where it is EXACTLY like driving and then it can be used for an educational purpose. We save those who already know how to drive from getting into potentially fatal crashes and students learn how to drive in a safe environment instead of a mildly hostile one, like the road, so everyone is happy.

johnson, d - 5 said...

mkay! this simulator thing is really whatsup! i can see the simulator going very far in the future! its seems like its safe and trustworthy...they just need to make sure they test it enough so nothing bad will happen, but after that its all good i guess!

hernandez, a - 5 said...

all this new technology is paving the way for more amazoning things in the near future possibly a world similiar to that of "I Robot"...if the Lexus simulator is as realistic as it claims to be then a crash would be just as real execpt without the extra pain and injuries added to it that or the whole thing will just shut off and then it will tell you that you where in a crash...

velazquez, n - 5 said...

The technology we use now is easy to use. Its heading towards a good thing for the people cause it faster to use.
Many people say that the new technology is awsome and cool to use. what i think would happen if you crash with the stimulator nothing would happen cause its automic it can control it self or you can when ever its not working. the technology with the videos games are having a good vision cause of how is created that attracks people to have them.

vineyard, w - 5 said...

This is essentially just a big, advanced, giant, sparkly new video game, more virtual reality than anything else. Lexus has made everything painstakingly lifelike for the driver in the "simmalater" (that guy never could say it right) by adding in real-world responses to a virtual landscape; this integration might spearhead a future development of more realistic, hands-on video games.

Silva-A-5th said...

Myers, K-5 said...

Q.) How do you think this technology is linked to video game technology?

A.) When in the simulator, it's almost as if you are in a game. I mean, think about it. Doesn't the layout of the simulator look alot like Grand Theft Auto? Or even some of the Spider Man games (excluding the fact that you can't swing from building to building.) It's all just a big game, only scientist are using it to test out the car and get some live input without harming the passengers.

And you know, if they actually have the thing move around and stuff for car testing, just think about what will happen to gaming technology! It would be tremendously awesome if you actually felt like you were in a game, shootin' people up, sinking ships, racing cars, running from the cops, and all that good gorey stuff too. I'm just saying, hah.

But, this is really cool. And I think it's evolutionary. (:

leblanc, f - 7 said...

I see this technology going no where. On the other hand you can use this as a video game like road rage can be the name of it or something!!! I would like has a video game thats just me lol bye bye mrs. l!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think this technology is headed to help new drivers so they dont have to put them on the road to test them.

It is related to videogames by how it's 3D and it seems like you're actually in a real car, driving around a real place, at real seppeds. It uses your imagination.

soto, e - 7 said...

i see this technology goin to big car companies..that whay the cars can be tested in the company rather than having to go out somewhere and testing them..and what is apsolutely amazing about this is that they can actually have a real person doin the testing rather than a dummy..

nickson, n - 7 said...

on some real stuff this simulator is massive. i think this is linked to video games with the graphics they have. video games are getting more interactive with the people that are playing them and this simulator is very interactive.i like how you can see the whole enviroment around you in the simulator.

arnold, t - 7 said...

Im going to answer the Video game technology question.
This new lexus simulator must have used some sort of video game technology because some of the earlier simulators have been for video games so it has a link to something. Maybe this is where they got the idea from for the simulator car because in arcades there were always the seats and steering wheels so that base of an idea possibly transformed into a car simulator from Lexus.

delagarza, g - 7 said...

im going to answer the question about how thechnology is related to video game technology..... i think that they are realted because i think they the start of the same but they just elaberate (how ever you spell that word) on some projects which makes them bigger and cooler looking.

reyna, j - 7 said...

I think this technology is headed torward the future of safer transportation in the world. I believe when you crash during the simulator bowser pops up and starts luaghing while big bold red letters undernieth him say GAME OVER. Just kidding it the screen would turn blood red after the machine causes a series of shakes making you feel as though you crashed. They will tell you to start over. it is very much so linked to video game technology because you are controling a virtual car jus like you would in a video game.

murphey, l - 7 said...

well im thinking if you crash it should come up with a screen that says "game over" or "fail.". or maybe they should have an air compressor and when you crash it goes off and you get a rush of air.

ponce, j - 7 said...

This technology is very similar to gaming technology, like those visual gaming helmets, just 100s of years ahead, either way this tech is realy cool and its amazing how far we have gotten in technology, it would be awesome if they were to make a racing game out of this, but it would probobly cost millions of dollars and only Bill Gates will have the money to buy it for his spoiled kids

albro, d - 7 said...

Well I think when it crashes its going to shut down completely and you will be traped forever. They would address this by installing a panic button and an eject funtion that will open the top of the simulator and it launches you out with a parachute and a pillow attached to you.

johnson, dasmine - 7 said...

i actually see this technology going for especially when they get the car to turn a few degrees for you can turn on a street right. if the simulation is to crash i wouldn't know what it would do. i kinda wonder if it would feel like a regular crash or not. if i was the person making this i would make the simulator make it from crashing, but it might slip up and crash. the air bags wouldn't be like the car air bags in a car because you still get hurt when getting hit by them. well that is mha blogg MRS.L !

lanham2010-eramirez said...

How do you think this technology is linked to video game technology?
I think this is linked to video game technology because is like a newer version of a game because it moves like if you were in the real car, everything is compare to real life.

morgan, d - 7 said...

Where do you see this technology heading?

The whole concept of a driving simulator kind of confused me at first. I understand flight simulators and stuff like that, but driving is an everyday kind of thing. But I do see the advantages of the car simulator. If they could add more scenarios to the pod, such as rain with slippery roads, this could be helpful in figuring out how to prevent accidents in bad weather.

ramirez, j - 7 said...

i think that techonology is heading in to a safer tomorrow and that people well learn to be safe but i wounder who getts to use the simulator rich people or who ever on the streets

redfield, c - 7 said...

Im answering the second question, what would happen if you crashed? I dont think you could crash, because the whole simulator itself looks like its running on these belt type things that eventually stop, and you cant go any futher, i think the simulator would just say go another direction or something like that. But if some crazy thing happend and for some reason it did crash, i picture in my head sort of like an airplane evacuation where the big slides pop out the sides and you slide down to the ground, but thats just a thought.

morris, j - 7 said...

I see this technology heading to the future..... hovercars that we as HUMAN BEINGS can drive on the road or even we can have the hover vehicle drive it's self. Now if the simulater would crash then i think it would have a alert system to let you know that you crashed and i also think that the pod would break or something would happan. I think they would have to shut it down and then fix it to where it would not let you hit the wall, like there would be a mechanism that would stop you from hitting the wall. This technology is linked to video game technology because in video game technology you get the choice of making it 3d or making regular. You get the choice of making it to where it is eye level like you see only what the eye would see or where you can see your character and things that your character would not be able to see. So there ya go Mrs.L I blogged.

brasher, k - 7 said...

i think this tech is like a video game in away u are not really there in the street in a car(well i guess u are in a car), u are in a dome driving a simulator that is programmed to think wat u might do next and react to it. and that is wat a video game does in a since that is fun, and this would be 1 fun game to play...grand theft auto style but u already got the car. so u go rite to driving over ppl, but u might fail the test in the simulator

williams, j - 8 said...

i can see the technology of this transfering to the video games so that you would have a 360 degree view of the games other than just having to look at the screen

carter, j - 8 said...

I see this technology going very far, very quickly. Personally, I think that this technology could be used as part of the tests to get your driver's permit or license.

hernandez, b - 8 said...

I also recall a car company allowing people from all over the world to test drive their new car via the internet. I think these technologies go hand in hand, allowing for a new and safer driving experience. I wouldn't be surprised if these two coupled together, vastly improving safety testing. It's a fantastic idea and while I could speculate all day, I'd rather wait to see where it goes.

linyard, t - 8 said...

I think if this technology was cheaper i could see it heading to the DPS and instead of actually driving u could use the similator to take the driving test. In case of a crash i think the machine should tell u that u suck and u shouldnt be allowed to drive. :P

I think that this new technology is a GREAT idea. I think that when this product is going to invent a new world of game activity. I also think the simulator will give young teens a feel of what it really feels like to drive. And maybe this will also be like a new driving test or something. This technology is going to be AMAZING!

vasquez, j - 8 said...

how i think this would be related to video game technology is it would b lik the full body suites tht thy use on the art institute comercials but better because it would feel more real. some of it could actually simulate real life problems and help ppl prepare for them so far ast concerning police force and army. This could helf make better solduresw? out putting them on drugs or giving them extra lims so we dnt look lik a family of freak show side adveture.

matthews, j - 8 said...

Where do you think this technology is headed?

I definately think it's heading directly to future driver's ed classes. It would help teach people to drive without actually making them drive on the road first and less risks of accidents. It's even great for dirver's tests.

pearson, m-8 said...

This is rlly awsome! I think if the driver in the simulator crashed that one of two things would happen. 1) the screens goes black and the simulation is over. or 2)the simulator does what it does best: simulate. The screens show the crash in the same way they show a driving sceen.

linyard, t - 8 said...

This is like a video game because everything u do is monitored and and the controls depend on what u do. i would try to crash if i could try it.

shankle, m - 8 said...

i think this technology is related to video games technology because it i think i uses the same video simulation as the same ones you would use in an arcade or something lke that

carter, j - 8 said...

I think that if the driving simulator crashes, the whole system would malfunction. To address that, I think that the scientists and other staff working on it would have to fix it and not let anyone else use it until all problem have been resolved.

wallis, z - 8 said...

Technology is definitely rising to new heights and even greater failures as well. What if America turns to simulations as a nation-wide information source? Humans will feel obligated to test it differently than in real life, for they know it isn't real. This may put humanity in jeopardy; in fact I'm sure it will. Meanwhile we should all find a spot to duck and cover when the failures of this new technology come crashing down on us. But, on another note, the Rangers are in the frickin' world series! So even if we die from automotive malfunctions, at least we know the Rangers made it! :D

The technology seems to be heading towards flying cars! Wow, what a miracle. I can honestly see, that from this invention, if it gradually increases, that eventually we will have flying cars. Yes, that sounds absolutely retarded, but think about it. First we have cars driving themselves, and now we have this creation Lexus put together? Dude, flying cars. It's happenin'...just sayin'. :)

smith, n - 8 said...

Because we do have this tech to simulate the driving experiance and the tech is getting better we can begin to determine the human limits of the human brain. Using this to find the maximum speed a human driver can drive safely.

murillo, j - 8 said...

Where do you see this technology heading?

I dont really think this simulator will prevent any accidents. Its just a very expensive and proffesional device that shows how to drive well. Its a waste a time and money because the simulator is only a machine that cant tell the difference between real life and a complex program made by scientists.

deckard, j - 8 said...

How do you think this technology is linked to video game technology?

Its very linked to the simulator that you can see the city around it and can reset the road so it wont tilt if you crash. Less accidents will occur with responsibility of the technology

about the question of crashing the simulator, I believe the machine would have to move in the opposite direction that the car was travelling to recreate the feeling of decceleration.

1)Where do you think this technology is heading??

Well its awesome, that people are in less risk of accidents. This will reduce the death and # of accidents this seems GREAT. It would be easier to drive too.

I think sometime in the future ever automobile company will own something similar to this. Its only a matter of time till cars will not be allowed to be sold without going through test in some similar test simulator ... I bet if you crash while driving the Lexus simulator, the machine just stops. Kinda like a real crash. If its moving like a real car when it stops it will feel like a real wreck (without the metal and glass flying everwhere) ... it is linked to video game technology in the way its simulated. like the maps you can drive on and the settings (rain, snow etc.) the new xbox has shown us motion sensor technology is more available than we thought so it wouldnt surprise me if we started having video games that were more based off simulators. ... and just saying how cool would it be if you could set the simulator to a blizard in NYC and could race around and drive like a mad man without worring aobut getting hurt or hurting anyone

So we have this simulator which promises some of the best results a car simulator has ever shown. This simulator provides 360 degrees of view, feelings of different accelerations (allowing rear view mirrors), and countless numbers of tests.
What's next? I can see this technology rapidly becoming more common leading to new inventions, giving us some of the most dependable cars to date. I wonder if this technology could expand so far to where it could be used to test different types of aircraft.. although there's a lot to be considered there such as G-force.

i think technology is headed somewhere we might think we know, but we really dont. from riding horses to riding in a bendz..... we have always seemed to upgrade how we get around from year to year. by the look of how we are trying to advance transportation we probably be riding in air cars in the future!!!!

I like this technology, its really awesome.. I don´t understand how is the video projected in 360 degree. It´s interesting for me.
But it´s still like a video game, it´s not real. It would be really good have this simulater at home!!!
I don´t know what would happen if you would have a crash. Probably airbags would pop up. But maybe there arent airbags in this car:-)

i'm answering the third question.
my opinion is, the graphic quality of Need for Speed 14 is much better than this...anyway, it is a cool idea to play this kind of "viseo games", though i may need a huge living room to enjoy this virtual reality...and that it's biggest problem of being a video game device. Xbox and PS3 is much smaller than that which means those families do not need to build an extra room for their children to play games.

i believe that the real virtual reality will come to our life only if we can link our brain to the computer perfectly, then we can simply simulate sense in our brain while we are sitting on a sofa instead of walking around. but that is also dangerous--what's ganna happen if there is a virus in the device?
