Blog 10 - 11/8/10

Hola peeps! Thanks for logging in.

I want to look at *sparkly* new technology. I have a favorite site for this: http://www.yankodesign.com/ Yanko is about the DESIGN of technology.

This will be the ONLY time when I don't mind you blogging on Tuesday, by the way.

Follow these instructions:

1. Go to Yanko.

2. Go to the bottom of the page and click on the link after the page numbers that says "Inspire Me." Ask your neighbor to help you find it if you can't.

3. Tell me which page you landed on. You may not use the first five pages.

4. Pick a product and tell me WHY you like it or how you think it could change our lives.

I need you to be grown enough to follow directions and I want opinions with reasons!!! If you can't give me that much effort, then I can't give you enough effort to type a 100 in your grade book!

Talk to me . . .

OK here's mine:

On page 398 there's this desk called Milk. It's like all in one. It has height adjustment, built in pen cups and garbage bins. Heck, it even has a fish tank built in.

This desk would be so cool . . . I would NEVER get out from behind it. And how nice would it be to never see a wire again? Life-changing, I'm telling ya.

Ohmygosh Mrs. L, I found your blog again. Unfortunately I didn't look at the page number but I found this cute little thing called "Dolls N Tha Hood" that is so adorable.

Basically, once these wooden dolls come in contact with the story book they make sounds. And...um..they look friggin cute. It's not shiny or new technology by any means, but cuteness is definitely a factor? I think the story book would amuse me, at least..

On pg 193 there's its a meter called every drop counts its awesome because its a device that will meter your water usage plus detect running, dripping & leaky pipes, without drying up your pockets.
Great for the environment and to save money i think if everyone invest we won't hear people complain. Much less have to worry about out water supply ever running out.

You can even watch videos right on the thing yeah you know what that means NO MORE BIG OLE' MONITORS! This thing will completely change the way we use Keyboards forever heres the link.

On page 98 there are these "chairs from space". They are pretty much just a really weird looking chair. It is suposably meant to investigate the use of “abstraction, figuration, and functionality". I find this sort of too complex, i meant its just a cute oddly shaped chair. Prety cool though.

page 402 the solar powered lamp i thank it is cool and it will help the earth go green becouse there is no power but the sun running it. i like the way it stays on at night and charges dearing the day. i thank everyone needs one. thank about it if every room in your house one you would not need another kind of light

On page 240 I saw this yacht. It was amazing and I wanted it! It travels up to 30knots it has 3 decks. One of the decks is connected to the lounge and then the kitchen and it has a sunbathing area like really? There are 3 rooms in all the main room, the guest room, and the VIP cabin. It also has a barbeque pit and a laundry room. ANDD it has a wet-bar I’m not too sure what that is but it sounds pretty cool. It also has neon lights that shine at night so the party continues! Ugh I want this soo bad imagine all the parting that would be happening!! I think I’m going to invest in this and live there.

After I hit inspire me and landed on page 273. On this page I found a Really small car called “MyCar” which is powered by electricity. The car is pretty cheap it only costs $ 18,000 USD and it has a cool design in my opinion.

I think this Car would help the ecosystem and our economy because we wouldn’t have to buy and use gasoline anymore. There is only one problem with this car and the problem is that the car is really small and I wouldn’t fit in it.

The Pandur Concept Vehicle is very very cool to me and it would be better if i had one

i like stuff like this because of the futuristic look because from modern day standards it looks to be immobile no drive train wheels sort just float there maximum awsomeness

im obsessed with this like Mrs.L is with "SPARKLY"

Okay well after i hit the inspire me button i landed on page 69 and this title just popped out at me. Its called "Fork the Cables". This is a neat invention. Its pretty much a piece of metal in the shape of a fork with a stand and pretty much u just wrap the extra cable on the fork like if it was spaghetti which looks pretty cool and awesome

On pg 51 is a food replicator. You can put food, example a piece of lasagna, inside and with the push of a button it will scan the food and spit out the recipe for it, including all the mathematical equations that go with it. I would love to have this piece of equipment.

vargas, k - 4 said...

I saw this on page 242. Its like a hand to forehead thermometer. You just simply press it again the forehead and it will tell you the tempeture. It seems like it would be less messy and much faster to use because you won't have to make a child open their mouth or anything. But i think it could be inaccurate.

bryan, j - 4 said...

on page 223 there is a foldable bowl. it folds flat and would be easy to carry around but it doesnt look like you can set it down. the problem with it is that holding hot food or liquids is probably not the best idea. it would be cool if there could be a hot sleeve added to it when you needed it

im on page 130.i thhink the pen that has a light is kind of cool.while you are writing or doing your homework you dont have to turn on a light you could just use the light on the pen so you can see without having to turn on the house light.

on page 220, its called Maestro, its a guitar learning aid. it has laserlights that are projected onto the fretboard as you play. so you dont have to pay somebody to teach you all you have to do is watch where the lights are projected on.

And my second one is the zoomla bike its so amazingly fashionable and like its amazing, its the best freakin thing on the internet.
now i got to get off because im making everyone wait right now

From what I can gather it's a remake of the walkingstick that will let you keep off an already traveled path. That and I think it would be fun to have. If I stumble across more I'll let you know

Im on page 107, On this page they have a little moving chair like the chair we blogged about the other day, the only thing different is that this one looks more realistic. This new technology looks basically like a mini smart car, it even has a roof and everything! I dont know if its as high tech as toyotas version, but i would get in one of these mini smart cars way before i would get in an Ireal.

Im writing about something we have already discussed before but this is helping people who have been affected by landmines and lost limbs. Yes, your guess is correct, an artificial leg for these victims of landmines. I think this artificial limb is very efficient but im sure it only serves as a crutch unlike the Luke Arm that actually acts as a arm.

on page 263, they have an zune phone. the phone is alright looking and the phone is touchscreen but i want to know why is there an white cushion thingy at the bottom of the phone. its a cute phone, but he should have put a little more thought into the phone. it is really crazy because the phone doesn't have a talk or ebd button, but it got the little white cushion at the bottom where there could be a talk and end button. WELL MRS.L HERE GOES MY BLOG!!!!!!

Your probably wondering how in the world is that my car well here ya go the reason it is my car is because i love it and it is small and cool. The reason i want it is so wierd because i don't even have my driver license yet and i am wanting my own car ha i would be getting tickets left and right. Now i also found another interesting thing and it is on page 411 and it is the coin sized ipod. NOw i have enough ipods already but this one is just awsome i want it so bad because it is so small and is alot less noticible.

On page 263, there is something called "Manuel Vivian's Aura suspension light". This particular design caught my attention because it looks similar to several different designs of chandeliers that I've seen, and I LOVE chandeliers! This would be a GREAT help to those who wish to make their living quarters more classy or "artsy", but cannot afford a chandelier or anything of the sort. If I had the money, I would SO get this.

The Three Garbages in One Garbage:
This is a garbage can that has 3 seperate garbages in it. How cool is that?!?! I personally think that could help society is it can help people develop the habit to recycle. There are 3 seperate areas to throw away your trash, one is like, designated for bottles and plastic, one is for glass, and then another is for general class. How much more organized would your trash be to throw them out accordingly or recycle them?!? It'd help our environment too :)

Page 64:

The Underwater Death Container. Now this thing just cracks me up. XD;

So, when someone has passed away you could have the option to put the decaying remains into this pod and they will send it down underwater by a boat which can keep up with it's location. It's suppose to help sustain ocean life. Clever, but silly. I guess this could solve our problems for overcrowded cemetaries? I think I'd rather bury someone underground like a normal person, than be strange and have them sunk underwater.

I landed on page 235, were I found Food Balls Around Your neck. It's a necklase that holds small marbel sized food pellets in hollow wooden beads. The food pellets are simply dried and compressed food that can be prepared simply by placing them in a liquid (water soop ect... Not only does it give us the ability to bring food with us on the go or on camping or hicking trips (which is pretty cool) but it also gives us a whole new way to get healthy food to starving countries (which is INCREDIBLE

On page 227 there's a phone that wraps around your wrist. The cool thing is, it doesn't look completely stupid. That would be pretty useful for those times when you cant carry it in your pocket.

hernandez, b - 8 said...

I landed on page 216 and BAM. There's a sort of glove that has one slot for your index finger and it comes with a bluetooth headset. What on earth could the purpose of this be? If one scans it over braile the sensors in the glove translate it and beam it to the headset which tells you what you're reading. Incredible? I think so. This could have a monumental impact on the sight impaired community, especially if they having learning disabilities. On top of being ingenious it also looks pretty beast mode.

on page 173 i found the "felt stool bookshelf table" ... its shaped like a "M" "W" or "E" depending on which way you look at it ... but the point of it is you can have a place to sit and store things in side of it at the same time ... as of right now, i dont really see a need to buy this but in a small college doorm room i can see how this would be useful ... or someone working with limited office space might purchase it

pg. 99 product one seats one thank you very much.

I don't think people actually appreciate speed anymore. when it comes to cars the safer the better because the y ahf to think of "children" and people "other than themselves" but me personally mini vans are for malibu barbie. I WANT A CCCCCAAAAAARRRR!!! and cars by defintion are designed to be fast. The car i saw on yanko was not only super hot (if you haf not by now figured this out i am a chick who Likes fast cars and think they are attractive so all you guys out there pick up your jaws and more or ill run you over.)but it seats one. which means only one person in the car. So what i say about it is if your to afraid to handel speed then dont ill gladly take the wheel for you.

on page 341 there is "A Play In The Dark". It's a chess set but with LED lights on each corner of the board. It lights the whole board including the small pieces. It allows you to play chess in the dark. Where could I get one of those? How cool is that?

On page 411, Happy Feet. Happy Feet is a station to put shoes after you are done wearing them. It cleans and sanitizes peoples shoes while they arent using them. Instead of just throwing your shoes on the ground, why not clean them? The nosile on top sprays inside the shoe and the side nosiles sray on the side of the shoe. Thus thoroughly cleaning them. This will really help lazy people whose feet stink (like Ivanna). lol :D

on page 321. there is the=is thing called the powerblocker. it looks very stylish!! it is a surge protecter then hides all the uglyness when you have toooo much pluged up. i think this would help households with babies, and it can prevent tripping over cords. this is a smart idea.

It took me to page 145 i like the single pen dispensses all color. its can be use to design what you want to with the pen dispensses.

This pen can be use as one because it has different kinds of color in just one pen. This is a cool pen it makes me want to have one instead of carring a 24 pack of colors. They come in different colors and have a various colors in one pen to use.

I am commenting on “View first, ask feasibility questions later” on page 287. This is a house that is on a hill, and half of it is floating in mid air. I think that this technology is cool because they have to know the weight of one side, and certain calculations so that the part of the house that is floating in mid air won’t break off and fall into the beach. I think that this will help us in the future because when space is scarce, we can still have the luxurious house we want, with a beach view, and not be forced to live somewhere where we don’t feel comfortable. I think that this will be a nice place to relax also. I would live here!! Heck yea!

Page 343 the Eco & Ego Car is pretty cool. It’s also kind of weird thought. A car telling you how polluted you were that day? Umm would I want to know? Even thought having a plant in your car sounds kindda cool I think it would be weird as well. It would be like a pet in your car funny…hahahaha.....You would be treating your plant like a pet your gonna take it for a walk wen you drive it like you would with a pet..ummmm idk if I want a pet plant. I think this car is kinda weird.. Y would the invertor of this car make this car? Would it be so that “people who have it” know how bad of a polluted place we live in an that so people reconsider not pollution the planet no more… would ya’ll get the funny car with a passenger seat for plants??

This.Car.Rocks!!!! I landed on page 182 and this transforming car will be next on the market, it's so beast.

It's a compact car, sleek and small for those tough times in traffic, but this car actually transforms. The back of the car is folded up and when you want to carry heavy loads of furniture or plywood you push a button and that is all. It has a compact mode, narrow mode and a pick-up truck mode. The compact mode is for cruising and keeping the car in standby, the narrow mode is to increase maneuverability with a slight tilt in the car in the same way as the simulator. The pick-up truck speaks for itself because you convert the back cartridge of the car into one that fits the style of a truck, letting you load and unload with ease. Im going to get this car no matter what because its design is amazing and will be usable everyday.

My Inspiration landed on pg 51. What caught my attention is “A Luxurious Undersea Vehicle”. This undersea vehicle is amazing!! Its basically an undersea yacht. This undersea yacht is very huge and can travel on top of water and of course under water. I would totally get this if I was a billionaire but I’m not lol. I don’t really think this will help us in the future, but I definitely believe that this is a new way to relax and have fun!!!!!

Now what this thing does is, when you die, it has your social networking information stored into it so that your family and friends can remember you. Your loved ones can be able to visit you and your blog or facebook or whatever you have via mobile phones. I think this is really cool, but also slightly creepy.. Another thing to think about is, will it get stolen, and what happens if it does get stolen?

It is stuck into a container and sucks up a good amount of water, it seperates the water removing all the harmful things that could be in it.
I know it's basicallt the water filter you have on your sink but it could so help people around the world. Like in Africa and India. they don't always have fresh water to drink and it would really make a huge difference!

Page 136. Electronic Manhole Cover.

These covers are placed around the city on the streets. It not only covers holes, but it also gives you direction to the nearest bus stops or train stations. This would be very helpful for tourist in big cities like New York City. You won't need a map or anything anymore. Just step on the cover and it will tell you the directions. The only negative aspect of this is that the cover is probably expensive. Considering how many manholes there are in a city, something like this would cost millions of dollars to do. Might as well stick to signs.

I landed on page 158 and found this kitchen utensil called the Uni-tool. Basically, it's just every kitchen utensil you could ever think of, combined into one efficient tool. I think this would be cool since I like to cook stuff (even though I don't do it very often) and I hate having to get out all these seperate different little toolsand getting confused by which one does what. I wouldn't have to worry about that with this, becasue it makes it simple and lets you to not have to make a big mess. It's made of nylon, so it won't break or melt (at reasonable temperatures), but the only problem i could think of is that it would get dirty really easily since it would be the only tool you are using :/

2. "The Spruce Whale" This think is pretty awe inspiring. Its like a plane/jet/leviathan. This consept looks like it can hold about 5000 people or more. It looks like something you would see in futuristic movies where cars fly.

http://www.yankodesign.com/2009/08/24/my-car-its-alive/

The Equilibrium Concept Car by Bob Romkes is incredible. What it does, it's it senses your heartbeat and lights from the inside to let you know that it's your car, as you get closer, it lets you see the handles to get inside.. The chairs float and are all adjustable (front and back), so you don't have to worry about being uncomfortable. When you're driving, the heartbeat sensors detect what condition to drive you're in and if your heart slows down or speeds up to much, it will slow down to a stop and send out an emergency signal to get you help instead of you just having a heart attack or failure in the middle of a highway with no one to help.. OnStar buttons are no longer needed.

Page 160: the Smart Sun Solar Cooker. It's a cylindrical container with three interchangeable pots of different sizes with a solar panel for a lid, which uses the captured solar energy to cook the food. I think this is an incredible invention: it's self-sustainable and a greener alternative to conventional cookers. This product could eliminate the need for stoves and maybe even microwaves, which could cut down on humans' environmental impact.

On page 14 it has unbreakable hangers and now I can hit my brother with one and not break it.

Tristan . . . I don't know about you, but I'm not about to be standing in the middle of the street in NY City trying to listen to a talking manhole cover. A) You wouldn't be able to hear it and B) Those people will run you slap over and not even slow down.

Ruben! Stop hitting your brother!

On page 399 the Peugeot Flux is pretty cool cause it's basically made mostly of aluminum and a plastic aloe. So that makes it go pretty fast. And the fact that there is a built in X-Box makes it even sweeter. But I would put an auto pilot in so you could play the game and drive at the same time.

Well page 47 is what i landed on. The design i looked at is called "no peeping tom over my shoulder". I like it because i like my privacy sometimes. This could possibly change the school environment because this could replace the regualar desk and cheating would likely be elimated or at least cheating off other people.

Page 160- Shooting Film.

I have a lot of friends who are into photography and cinematography. I don't even know what these words mean, so it always bugs me when they talk about it. This is why I like this 'shooting film' camera. It's pretty much just aim and take the picture, so I don't have to worry about all the stupid angles and stuff. It has two basic features: Still shots and moving shots. That's what I like, Simple.

I landed on page 222 and found a pair of biker boots that are reinforced with flexi elastic and reinforced plastic. I like it cuz I’m a soccer fan and I hate it when my favorite player gets kicked in the shin and gets his leg broken.

I landed on Page 98 and came across something called "Plant Spikes." Apparently these spikes update the planter of the moisure level of the ground and when to water the plants. Basically it's extra help for any average gardener. It seems to be a great idea for anyone who has multiple things to do at once, and i dig that.

New car protection is not rather stimulating. Relying on who status your house is around, it could always be some less significant or simply much larger part of your capacity to pay as opposed to your neighbors all around point out strains. What is the minimum amount for your personal state? I've noted this web-site worthwhile to estimate affordable auto insurance. I'm thrilled to be here.

Lot of information about how to get cheap auto insurance? Getting your first car insurance policy may not be a priority but it should be. Car insurance protects one of your first investments, your car. But car insurance can be complicated and often new car insurance shoppers fail to compare car insurance rates and in turn fail to reap the financial benefits of finding the best and affordable car insurance available to them. Information here is great. Love to come back again.

Do i have to get an auto insurance when i buy a used car? or else, they don't sell the car to a person who doesn't have an auto insurance? I currently have a lease car that will be returned this January next year. But i want to get a used car soon so that i can work on the car, but i won't be driving it around. The car will be in my garage until i return the lease car and get an auto insurance. I live in Philadelphia, PA
Any suggestion?
