Hola Peeps!
Time for a new topic. I want to discuss car technology.
In the 4 years that I've been doing this blog, car technology is the one thing that has changed the fastest. Back when we started I can remember talking about how "one of these days" cars were going to be able to park themselves and would include cameras so that you could see what was behind you when backing up.
Well here we are now.
It seems to me that automakers work the hardest to make sure that their concepts come to fruition (that's a Dillards word that means what they dream comes true). They are devoted to constantly pushing the envelope, and we get to reap the rewards.
So for this week's blog please take a look at this LA Times pictoral feature. Pick one of the ten car technologies that are on the market right now and tell me why it's a good thing. You will have to hit the "next" arrow to advance through the pictures.

In my opinion, the Back-up assist camera on the back of a car is the best technology to have been developed to date. It has probably saved countless children from being run over by someone backing out of their driveway.

#8 the blind spot detection would be good because having blind spots and not being able to see a car could lead to bad wrecks. With the blind spot detection, it would prevent you from having a wreck because it beeps when you get too close to another car.

I think the tires that still work when you get a flat would be really helpful. You wouldn't have to change your tire on the side of the road or worry about not being able to get to the side of the road, you can just wait and stop at the next gas station or other convienent place to change your tire.

the navigation system is a goodthing because some people want to go to new places but may not know how to get there. with the navigation system you are able to get the directions to your destination instead of looking at a map...BLAHH!!!

Navigation systems are one of the best things they couldve put in cars. People like to travel and always tend to get lost and not want to stop and ask for help but now they dont have to because the cars now come with it.

the back up assistance camera is the best creation for the car. because for some people backing up could be one of the hardest things to do. so with this they will have an advantage to not run into anybody when baqcking up!! TUTT-1ST

I liked all the lights I love cars with shiny lights not bright but shiny you know? Oh yeah and I like the safety thing the airbags!! Now that is safe but I think air bags are dangerous too!! cause the way they come out I think it comes out with too much force does anyone think the same way?

Dual Stage Smart Airbags seem like one of the best technologies for a car today. Safe airbags arent common or easy to come by, and it takes some doing not to get hurt by the airbag when even though its there to protect you.

#5-Premium Surround-Sound Systems
I found this to be cool because I love to listen to music pretty loudly, but I don't like to turn it up so loud that it becomes a distraction or a problem for others around me. I think this would be a good idea for people, because they won't have to blast their music up so high and would be able to hear their music at a reasonable volume that works for everyone.

The heated/cooled seat system is one of the best new technology new cars have. I personaly only have tried the warming system, which increcdible!!!!!! Achs,pains, and the cold dont have a chance against this alsome new heat technology. The way that it warms up the body of the passanger or of the driver are what it makes it so popular. It spacificly directs the heat to the spacific area where we would have pain like the lower back, the sholders, the thighs, and even the butt; now reaqlly who wouldnt like a warm botty? ;) If this is what the heat can do i cant even imagine whta the cool system would do, After alll me use the cool AC than anything.

The run-flat tires are pretty cool. It gives you time to get somewhere safe at the very least, and probably somewhere for a new tire. It would really suck to have a blowout in the middle of one of those long bridges with no shoulder, where you have to stop in the middle of the road and hold everyone up. With this, it's not a problem!

With all of these add ons the price of the car goes up. Car makers are trying to compensate for stupid people by adding devices to compensate such as the blind spot detection, back up camera and active cornering. Devices like SatNav amd OnStar are great additions but things like heated/cooled seats seem like just one more thing to break.

i think the heated and cooled seats are a good idea because it can keep you comfortable during the weather. if its cold and rainig the heat will keep you cozy and from getting sick, where as if its hot a satan toe nail the cool air will keep you from over heating and let your pores breathe.

I think the Personal Assistance Saftey Services are the most useful technology in case of an emergency. Sometimes your in a position where you can't call for help,and all your other technology is useless if your dead.

Many car makers are learning that buyers are willing to pay more than twice the cost of a portable navigation system but still i like the navigator systemit looks cooler than the tomtom.

in my opinion #11 is dumb! i mean who would think of pressing that significant button in the middle of a horrofing accident...so its better to call 911 from a cellphone which might not be in pieces.

The Run-flat tires I think are pretty good because now you dont have to waste time to change the tire if you get a flat you can actually get to a gas station or a repair shop because of how long they last.Also there good because there more realible of so skinny they are so i would considered buying them.

#8 the blind spot detection thingy that helps you and lets you know if your in someone elses blind spot and it will beep and will keep beeping until you are not in their blind spot.. good if you want to be safe.

To me the useful thing on this page is the Run-flat Tires. With these tire your dont risk your rims being messed up bbby tring to get around after you blew your tire. These tire will save you loads of money in the long run.

I like the active head lights the picture seem kind of nice and it would kind of be useful for people who be out at night and would like to wonder where a curve is at or how the road is before they be in a hurry and not kow how the road is.

I believe that the Run-flat tires is the best feature to have because you never know when you get a flat tire and end up in the middle of nowhere. It would save alot of time and no need to change tires in uncofertable areas. And the 50miles it gives you is just enough to get you to the nearest shop or gas station.

#2 the run flat tires are very good to have because knowing that you have a flat tire and it well last you 50 more miles to even have a chance to get to a tire company to replace to flat tire.

Okay personally i liked reading about the run-flat tires because it would come in real handy. i always blow at least two of my trailer tires carrying my horses to a competition and that would be so cool if i just saw a light and BAM i would know where to go... a gas station or tire place.
I also like the key sortaish. even though a car jacker couldnt take the car but 20 feet, they could still steal from you.. duhh but its a cool design.

i like the blind spot detection. i think this is very cool. my mom has it on her car and it helps so you know when someone is beside you in your blindspot. im sure its helping have less wrecks for people!

#5- The Active COrnering Headlight System is, in my opinion, the best feature on that website. I like it because it will and probably already has prevented multiple wrecks. Most wrecks are caused by not being able to see in front of you, and on most dark roads where there's a curve, it can be very helpful to drivers to see if there's any animals or objects in the road.

i like the dual air bags! i think that was a great idea to make those! it makes me feel more safe when i am in a car. now i know there is a better chance of surviving in a serious car wreck or any car wreck!

I think the heated and cooled seats are the best technology. In the summer when the seat could fry your butt, wouldn't it be nice to push a button and BOOM your behind is being cooled down? Or in the winter when your butt is used to being fried and then you sit on the freezing cold seat and you don't know what to do with yourself, wouldn't it be nice to push a button and BOOM your behind is being heated up? The things we can come up with these days is just amazing.

I think this is good because it makes driving on dark roads at night safer. Makes you aware of whats ahead sooner. Which helps people stay out of accidents :D yay!

The safety services for the car, I think, is the best idea for a car. When you wreck your phone doesnt stay where you last put it so if you are in the middle of no where and you have crashed then there is no way to get help. The car sends a signal to the saftey company for them to send help and they can talk to you through your cars speakers and they will call for help. Awesome awesom awesome idea.

I think the plug in, surround sound for your ipod or MP3 player is swesome. Its so conveniant and when you dont like whats on the radio you can just pick your own songs from your own ipod.

I think the best of the examples shown would be the airbags. With people doing stupid stuff theses days, it may be your day to get hit by someone, so being not your fault the airbag safety will keep you alive. Whether it be your fault or others, the design is suppose to keep you alive, I'm guessing.

The back-up camera is the best by far. My family's new car has one, and without it I wouldn't be able to back up without hitting something and parallel parking would be impossible.

I'm not entirely sure but I believe that all of these technologies are no longer concepts, but are already in existance. That aside, I must say that the heated/cooled seats are the best. who doesn't like having a warm butt on a frigid winter day?

i like how you dont have to look behind you to avoid hitting stuff if you have the backup cam,and i also like the multiple air bags positioned all over the car.cause if your like every other avrage american YOU WILL EVENTUALLY FORGET YOUR SEATBELT.

i like the premium surround sound system bacuase i love my music and im the type of person who likes to have the olume turned up while im driving. being able to plug up my phone and play music from my phone makes it better because i used to hate having to burn cds

The back-up assist seems to be the best technology that could surface in the car industry. If someone is riding the lines, you can clearly see where you need to park. Otherwise it would also be beneficial if someone wished to get around you. We all know those crazy people that whisk by you faster than a speeding bullet. Why not know what to expect in the next few seconds? Who knows maybe it would save your life.

Active cornering headlight system is a good idea when you're traveling at night. It prevents accidents. Also the Back-up assist is a good idea because i wouldn't want to hit something when i'm backing up.

My personal favorite is the smart key. It's useful because you don't have to spend all that time out in whatever unfortunate weather is occuring trying to dig your keys out of your coat pocket! Not to mention that when you turn on the car and your mom accidently takes the keys with her when it's time for you to take your drivers test. The car doesn't shut down and leave you sitting in the car with an old geezer looking at you incredulously.

I think the best features in this blog is the blind spot detection & the back up assist because it helps keep safety strong. Especiallly for big trucks who sometimes cant see what surrounds them. The surround system is pretty nice too since i'm always hearing music in the car.

The best piece of technology is the run-flat tires.
tires are SOOOO expesive to replace if they become damaged, flat, or losing traction. They will be a HUGE money saver and a FANTASTIC investment.

I think the light beam adjustment is the most needed of these new upgrades. On winding roads, especially, thier have been so many recks at night becuase of nt seeing what ou turn into. This new, handy device would change that.

I think that the blind spot detection device is the most useful, because that way you wouldn't have to take your eyes of the road to check your blind spot.

The active cornering headlight is awwsome. It could really be useful on the road! and the back up assist camera eeehhhh i dont know. seems kinda wack to me. You can just see the buttom of the back and not the top. You never know if theirs a branch there then boom! you hit it.

I feel like each new technology leads to a new opinion...
Im just glad that cars and car makers are utilizing all this new technology. Cars could just be the fast-moving metal death traps that they once were.... Which is scary for some people with things like Amaxophobia or Ochophobia are not random phobias that are inspired in people for no reason, some ppl just dont know how to drive. I dig all the new gadgets for automobiles.

I think that they should make a car that can do some things for you like call 911 when your in an accident or help you out when your being robbed or when someone tells you to get out of your car to steal it the car should drive the crimminal to the cops and not let them out until they get to the cops you know wouldn't that be something? :)

The active cornering headlights would become very handy if you and your family are very heavy travelers. It would slightly reduce the accident rate due to not noticing a curving in the road.

Active cornering headlight system... Who would'nt want this!? I mean, these lights move which is already a cool concept, but the fact that it provides more safety for people and their families. Allowing it to automatcially swivel in the direction so the headlights continue to give a clear view of the road.

I like the cool wheels because it would be cool to never have a flat. I think that would be really convenient. I also think the air bag safety feature is nice. I think my favorite is the automatic headlights because you could watch for small animals or children on the road. But then again the headlights could blind another driver so they could also be very dangerous. The cooling/heating seats would be awesome to have when it's winter or summer.

I think that alot of the technology is really cool and helpful but i feel that the personal assistance is the most helpful one. If you are in a wreck and can not find your phone or can not get service or any other emregency then that is very helpful.

The thing i like its the Premium surround-sound systems it doesnt protect you from any accident but i think its kool to be driving around and jammin with your sound system as loud as you can.

I think the in-dash navigation systems are good and super helpful because everyone gets lost at some point and the built in system would be very convenient.

RunFlat Tiers- They might seem expensive, but if you have ever had to change a flat with your spare, it is a simple solution to save you the time and work of changing a tier. Also if you can make it to a tier store, it will save you the expense of a tow truck.

I personally don't like regular cars (and cars with that unnecessary crap I think are just boring with shiny crap on it), but the run flat tires are a really good idea and they can help a person out in really bad situations. For example if you pop a tire in a zombie apocalypse you can still run them over without worrying about it.

The active cornering headlight system seems like it would be very useful. I didn't even know that this existed. This would seriously improve people's night vision and visibility, making it safer to drive on the highway at night. I think this is a great innovation and I'm curious as to how it works.
Finally we move on to something else! =) i like how car technology has really advanced through out the years.Something that is already out in the market is the Navigation System that way people wont get lost, and that it says that it has where it shows that thier is traffic you can find your self another routine to go and wont be stuck in traffic!

The duel stage air-bags are amazing, it helps with safty of everyone in the car and I think that still people are trying to improve on top of the safty we have now.
