Blog 16 - January 28, 2013

Howdy Folks!

So CES is in the books again this year. Here it is by the numbers:

3,250 - The number of technology companies that showed up in Las Vegas to debut their new tech toys.
150,000 - The number of technology professionals who attended the show.
35,000 - The number of attendees who came from other countries to attend the show.
20,000 - The number of new products that were launched at the show.
1,920,000 - The number of square feet the show took up.
45 - The number of years the show has been running.
(Source: cepro.com)

How cool is that? It TOLD yall it was a Big Deal!

So for credit this week go pick one of the top 10 new products from this year's show and speak about it intelligently. As always, read Tuesday and blog Thursday. Also? That's cool won't earn you credit. Please speak to us about the product. Give us a fact. Go see if you can find reference to it somewhere else on the internet. When is it coming to market?

So again, for credit this week you must do TWO things: Tell us which product in that list you're talking about AND give us a fact about it that you find interesting.

Sample:
I'm so digging that Samsung Youm. It has flexible plastic instead of glass so it's not breakable. Finally! A cell phone I can actually put in my pocket!

I really like NVidia's Project Shield. This device runs the Android OS and so it can access any game on the Google Play store. It can stream games from any PC equipped with Nvidia's GeForce GTX 650 or a laptop packing a GTX 660M GPU. I like this because it seems like another efficient way to play games.

I like the FitBit flex. It monitors how many steps you've taken and how much distance you've traveled, it also keeps track of how many calories you've burned. It can help you keep up with your health and stay fit.

panasonic 4k tablet has good features and bad features a good feature is that it runs faster then any windows tablet, the bad thing is that it only has a 2 hour battery life.

I really like the Samsung Youm. I think it's cool that it's made of plastic instead of glass so that it won't break, but I would be worried that the plastic would crack over time from being bent back and forth.

I think by far the coolest thing on the list is the Samsung Youm. Just the fact that its bendable. The phone is also made out of plastic instead of glass. They say that its almost unbreakable, which i think is pretty freaking amazing. I wouldnt be worried to drop my phone anymore this would save my life completely.

I really like the Samsung Youm, beacuse you can fold it into like a roll up thing and it fits in your pocket! It can do this because it is made out of plastic which lets it be able to bend! But i dont really know if i could have that because im OCD about stuff and if it has even a little wave in it, i wont stop till its straight again.

I like the Oculus Rift, it reminds me a lot of an old virtual helmet game I had back when I was 6. It's really cool because I had a game that involved fighting, and I would actually punch, kick, and do all these other moves and they actually worked. Hopefully I can get another one like it, or like the Oculus Rift.

I like the Oculus Rift because it also into the world of virtual technology. The high-def pixel display allows you to view the game as if you there and in person. I think it an awsome piece of technology that will take gameing to a whole new level.

I think I'm going to go ahead and go with the Samsung Youm. Simply because is is made of plastic and is not very breakable. I'm always parinoid that I will damage my phone so this could be great for me. It being able to bend is unique and different. I like to be different, I don't like to have what everyone else has. :)

i chose the Oculus Rift, i find this piece of technology very interesting, because i remember having something similar as a child, however it faded away due to many things it lacked. Now the device has two 640 x 800 LCDs, and together they have a nice high definition 1280 x 800 pixel display. Now just imagine the posibilities this could give us, all the great graphics and technology that games have today but literaly up in your face, i feel like we could be part of the game you could probably play laying down or take the game on the move. of course guys would find this more interesting than girls but oh well.

I believe that the samsung youm is a great invention that will lead to much greater inventions. the thing that makes this phone an amazing phone, is that it is flexible, and practically unbreakable. the only down side to the phone is the big attachment on the bottom. other than that i love the phone and would really like to have one but, the price they're going to put in it is probably going to be outrageous.

I really enjoy video games. I got into PC gaming a while back, and so NVidia's Project Shield looks like something i want to get my hands on. It streams games off the Google Play store and other PC games from your PC as long as its running with NVidida's Geforce GTC 650 (hopefully mine will be compatible).

I really like the Sony Xperia Z because Sony has invented new technology so the phone will be drawing very little power when it's in sleep mode and it will completely disable apps from being able to communicate during this time. This would be very beneficial to me considering the fact that my phone dies before school's even over! The phone is also waterproof which would also be very helpful considering I've lost about 5 phones due...the ocean..

Blog for Thursday:
I think the Nvidia Shield is the most interesting game console that came out since the Nintendo 3Ds. It can stream any game from Google Play store through Android OS and can stream game through any PC equipped with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 video card. It’s “Like a gamepad glued to a tablet, but in a good way”

I think the Samsung Youm is soooo cool! It is made of plastic and glass, so it is bendable and basically un-breakable! I love my Iphone5, but that thing can be very easy to shatter, I think the Samsung Youm will be great for younger teens or people who are very clumsy! It should be out between 2014-2015 :)
